He also has experience working with families of different cultural backgrounds and is fluent in Spanish. Prior to pursuing a degree in Mental Health Counseling, Yulgeim spent multiple years volunteering in Colombia, Ecuador, and parts of the United States providing different types of mental health support that included counseling. His interest in counseling stems from these experiences traveling, meeting people of different cultures, and learning about how different cultural factors influence a person’s mental health. Yulgeim’s experiences as a first-generation immigrant have provided insight and understanding of how multicultural components play a role in the development of a person. Although it is often difficult to showcase vulnerability, there is also value in recognizing a need to better ourselves. Understanding and exploring what makes us who we are is a life-long and exhilarating journey that Yulgeim hopes to take with you.
