Yumi Couper, LCSW

Psychotherapist
VA
I'm not perfect, and we all have things we can work on. I hope this helps you feel comfortable knowing that we can connect and realize no one has to be perfect to be a helper or a patient. As a therapist with a Master's in Social Work from Fayetteville State University, I like to start where you are and help find a direction together based on the goals you wish to accomplish. I consider myself very person-centered and seek to understand each individual. I conduct psychotherapy as well as solution-focused therapy to provide tips and tools, but ultimately, my aim is to help heal core issues and wounds.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I'm not perfect! No one is perfect but as we strive to be our best I hope this finds you well to know that we can find healing in humility, acceptance, and vulnerability. I like to start wherever you are in life and really get to know you, your heart, core hurts and pain. I am also very solution oriented and provide the tools to work on managing symptoms such as anxiety, but I also love to do some dewp psychotherapy and get to the root of all the wounds. I am to be a mirror to you and help you see clearly in order to heal and I hope you find this comforting to try giving me a chance to work with you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I start where you are. Learn how you think, act and feel and what are the most presssing issues at hand. I provde psychotherapy to process emotions and thought deeply and also provide clinical solution oriented tools to manage symptoms on a day to day basis. I provide homework as a means to keep training the mind towards the goals you have to be your best self.
