Psychotherapist
VA
Starting therapy is a difficult step to take because you might feel like you are admitting something is wrong with you, but it is actually the opposite. Therapy helps you open your true self-to yourself, your family, friends, loved ones, and the world. I understand that asking for help can be daunting, but believe me, it will be one of the most satisfying and rewarding experiences you will ever have for yourself, benefiting not just you but everyone around you. Reaching out to a therapist can feel overwhelming and, at times, frightening. Exhale, take a moment, and let us figure out how I can help. Life is already hard enough; don't let yourself, bad relationships, trauma, depression, and anxiety add to the list of challenges you face alone. I am here to help you free yourself from the emotional burdens you carry daily. Let me help you release the continuous emotional pain that causes you harm. I hold a Master of Education in Community Counseling from Virginia State University, which equips me with the knowledge and skills to support you on this journey toward healing and growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I recently received my professional license as an LPC (licensed professional counselor) to practice therapy independently. I have 20+ years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families on how to rebuild, rectify, and restore their mental health to present their “whole selves” to their families, loved ones, at work, and the world. I have experience in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus Brief Therapy, Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Therapy in my sessions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I utilized rapport building with my clients to ensure that a safe space and environment are fostered to ensure that the therapeutic bond is continuous between me (the therapist) and my client(s). I practice talk therapy and psychotherapy during the first couple of sessions to make sure that my clients are comfortable talking or processing with me and to also ensure that they are being heard and their stories are being listened to intently. I also practice motivational interviewing during the infancy stage of therapy to help the client increase their self-esteem.
