Ziqi Ding, MA

Psychotherapist
NY
Hi, this is Ziqi, and it's nice to meet you from here, where we can co-create a safe and nurturing place and start a therapeutic journey. If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or lost, I can help with navigating anxiety, difficult emotions, life transitions, and identity-related challenges. Therapy can mean different things to everyone, and I respect and acknowledge whatever you bring to me in the therapy space as signs of strength at a starting point. Educational Background & My Story I am a pre-licensed mental health counseling clinician who brings a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and relational approach to therapy. I received my B.S. in Psychology with Honors from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and am currently completing my M.A. in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at New York University. My training has combined rigorous academic work, empirical research, and hands-on clinical experience, which has helped me develop an approach that is evidence-based, deeply relational, and focused on meaningful change in everyday life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My personal approach to therapy is warm, relational, and interactive. I believe therapy is not only a place to talk about pain, but also a place to feel accompanied, understood, and gently challenged toward growth. I see the therapeutic relationship as an important part of healing, and I am dedicated to create a space where you can bring your full self with less fear, less pressure, and more room to breathe. My work is integrative, which means I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. In our work together, I draw from a range of therapeutic perspectives, including a relational and human-centered approach, Psychodynamic therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), IFS (Internal Family System), Attachment theory, Mindfulness-based approach, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Positive Psychology, Polyvagal theory, and Trauma-informed perspectives. I often use these approaches to help clients better understand emotional patterns, build self-awareness, strengthen adaptive coping, and create more meaningful changes in their relationships and daily lives.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

n the first session I will complete an intake assessment to gather as much information to better assess and get to know you, your history, and what concerns have brought you to therapy and therefore set up goals. The following sessions, we will engage in talk therapy while pulling from various modalities to help you achieve your goals. Our sessions are 45 min in length on a weekly basis. Please allow 15 minutes before the session to do the intake paperwork. I PROVIDE PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES ONLY; PLEASE NOTE I DON’T PROVIDE MEDICATION MANAGEMENT SERVICES.
