Getting to know Ziqi (Jenny) Zhou

I am a bilingual mental health counselor dedicated to providing compassionate, culturally responsive care for adolescents, adults, and older adults facing a variety of emotional and life challenges. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, self-esteem issues, academic or career-related challenges, adjustment difficulties, and other concerns that affect emotional well-being. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. My therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to each individual's unique needs. Drawing from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, strengths-based therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care, I help clients develop practical coping skills, gain insight into their experiences, and build resilience for long-term emotional well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, and I strive to create a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful growth, so I prioritize building trust, fostering open communication, and meeting clients where they are without judgment. My style is collaborative, compassionate, and goal-oriented. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to each client's unique needs, strengths, values, and life experiences. I encourage clients to actively participate in the therapeutic process while providing guidance, practical coping strategies, and evidence-based interventions to support lasting change. Whether you are seeking support for a specific challenge or looking to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, I am committed to helping you build resilience, develop healthier patterns, and move toward the life you want to create.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your personal history, identify your strengths and current challenges, and clarify your goals for treatment. This initial conversation helps us develop a shared understanding of your needs and create a treatment plan that is personalized and meaningful. In ongoing sessions, I tailor therapy to each client's age, experiences, and goals. Together, we will monitor your progress, address challenges as they arise, and use evidence-based interventions to build coping skills, strengthen emotional well-being, improve relationships, and support lasting personal growth.
