Getting to know Zoe Malliaros

It can be hard to find a therapist who feels like the right fit, especially when you are grieving a loss, caught in repetitive patterns, overwhelmed by work or family or facing a challenge. With compassion, patience, and authenticity, I work with you to identify, understand and address where you may be getting stuck. My approach is strengths-based, non-judgmental, and rooted in deep respect for every client. A former architect, I continue to think creatively about how our micro and macro environments affect us and understand first hand the toll that high pressure work environments can take on our mental health. I am passionate about supporting clients throughout all stages of grief, including acute and anticipatory grief, ambiguous and non-death losses. Additionally, I work with adults who feel depressed, anxious, and struggle with life transitions, relationships, parenting, trauma and guilt. I welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities; I am LGBTQIA+ and poly affirming. Our sessions are rooted building a safe, trusting relationship and I draw upon modalities that facilitate lasting change, including somatic psychotherapy, mindfulness, and evidence-based treatments like DBT and EMDR. I am particularly interested helping my clients attune to their embodied sensations and foster experiences of ease. I received my clinical social work training at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and have provided individual and group therapy in private practice, community health agencies and outpatient partial hospitalization (PHP) hospital settings. Please note: As an out-of-network provider, I do not accept insurance but can provide a monthly statement if you are eligible for out-of-network reimbursements.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is interactive, warm and relaxed - I meet you where you are in the process, whether you are new or returning to therapy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I will reach out to schedule a free 20 minute consult call in order to confirm your first session. This is an opportunity to address any questions about working together and to plan the logistics of our sessions. Please reach out directly with any questions.

If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance company. You can check your coverage by contacting your insurance provider and asking the following questions: 1. Do I have out of network mental health (or behavioral health) benefits? 2. What is my out of network deductible and has it been met? 3. After the deductible is met, what is the coverage amount (or percentage) per therapy session?
