People who drank alcohol twice the binge drinking threshold were roughly 70 times more prone to having an alcohol-related emergency department visit. In 2016, almost 14% of deaths among people aged between 20 to 39 were due to alcohol.


According to data synthesized by America's Health Ranking for 2020, approximately 13.5% of the adult population in Florida was involved in binge drinking, while around 6.9% were heavy drinkers. Alcohol abuse and problems stemming from it were more prevalent among men (almost 18.6%) than women (nearly 12.8%) in the state. It also showed that adults aged 18-44 had a higher tendency to abuse alcohol (about 20.4%) as compared to those who were between 45-64 (about 15.7%) or above 65 (about 7.8%).
