“My family encouraged me to start therapy but I was unsure about it and didn’t know what to expect. I’ve had three sessions with Lisa so far and she has made the process feel much more comfortable than I anticipated. She has helped me understand how some of my choices may be affecting the people I care about in a logical and compassionate way that never felt blaming or judgmental. I’m glad I decided to give therapy a chance.”

Getting to know Lisa LaBrusciano

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with diagnostic privileges and provide online therapy to adults and teenagers throughout New York State. I work with individuals overwhelmed by anxiety that takes over daily life and makes it difficult to feel in control or live the life they desire. Many of my clients feel stuck in cycles of worry, panic, and emotional overwhelm, including panic attacks that feel unpredictable or difficult to manage. I also support people navigating relationships that feel unhealthy, confusing, or emotionally draining, often involving difficulty identifying their needs, communicating effectively, or setting boundaries. In addition, I work with individuals with a history of addiction who want to better understand their relationship with substances and rebuild trust in themselves.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel unfamiliar, so I aim to create a warm and comfortable space where you can speak openly and be yourself. My style is collaborative, conversational, and flexible. I generally allow clients to guide the conversation toward what feels most important while offering support, reflection, honest feedback, and gentle challenges when helpful. I tailor therapy to each individual and may draw from CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and other approaches based on your needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and explore what brought you to therapy, what you have been experiencing, and what you hope to gain from the process. Ongoing sessions are generally conversational and shaped by what feels most relevant to you that day. Rather than following a rigid structure, we may explore recent experiences, relationships, emotions, or recurring patterns as they arise. When appropriate, I may introduce practical coping strategies, communication tools, or new perspectives while checking in to ensure therapy continues to feel helpful and aligned with your needs. Please read carefully: After booking through Zocdoc, you will receive required intake forms through Headway and SimplePractice. These forms must be completed before your scheduled appointment for the appointment to remain confirmed. Your telehealth appointment will take place through Headway’s secure platform.

Lisa is very flexible and understanding. I’m neurodivergent and sometimes I need to express or process my thoughts in ways that may seem unusual to other people. She understood completely, encouraged me to be myself, and adjusted her approach to what worked best for me. I never felt embarrassed or judged. I felt accepted and genuinely supported. Thanks Lisa!
I’ve only had a few sessions with Lisa, but I already feel very comfortable talking to her. She is warm, genuine, and relatable, and she treats me like a person rather than just focusing on a diagnosis or problem. She takes the time to understand the understand whole picture and has already helped me notice patterns and areas of my life that may be affecting my happiness without me realizing it. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with her.
