“Dr. Adriana Castillo is excellent. She also speaks Spanish. She didn't judge me or rushed me. She was very patient listening to all my previous surgeries, diagnosis, and conditions. The nurses were patient and the secretaries were very polite. The doctor was helpful with referrals, and handicap parking documentation was given to me right away. There is a lab inside the building. I was able to give my blood sample right away. I was scared to go, but it was a positive experience. ”

She earned her bachelor of science degree in Biology with a double minor in Chemistry and Spanish from the University of Texas Pan-American (now University of Texas Rio Grande Valley-UTRGV). Dr. Castillo pursued her calling in medicine two years after teaching high school chemistry. She completed her Family Medicine residency at Houston Methodist Hospital in 2017. The provider I saw did not care to help me in any way. She did the absolute bare minimum, asked no questions, and did not care to comment on my depression screening. I will not be seeing her again or recommending her to others.

I went in for a specific problem and she diagnosed me without any testing resulting in my issue not being resolved. I had to pay to see another Dr who actually did testing for my medical condition. I felt unheard and like she didn’t truly care about how I was feeling but was given a simple lazy diagnosis that wasn’t at all what I had. When I brought up my chief complaint, she recommended I go to a specialist for that direct problem but that was the whole reason I scheduled and paid for my appointment to begin with.

Dr Castillo is a kind, caring and friendly doctor who listened, asked good questions, I was comfortable speaking with her and she never hurried me along. I feel like I found my doctor, one who hears me and will be there to help me improve my health. Would recommend her highly. Office is clean and the staff is friendly and they seem to enjoy their rolls and where they work.

I’ve seen Dr. Castillo a few times and my last visit she just made me feel dumb for coming in for what I was concerned about. She also didn’t know what one of my symptoms could be and didn’t even offer to refer me to someone who could look deeper into it. I left very frustrated and deflated with no answers or help.

doctor and staff were really nice. this was my first time seeing a pcp by myself and everything went very smoothly. i checked in, filled out some info prior to my appointment, and was seen maybe like 10 min after checking in.

La Dra. Adriana habla ambos idiomas por lo que puedes explicarle bien lo que te sucede. Su ayudante no habla español, pero conoce palabras. El proceso fue rápido, solamente tuve que firmar algunos documentos antes de la cita y fue todo. Si quieres leerlos detenidamente debes llegar con mayor margen de tiempo, al menos media hora antes.
Dr. Adriana speaks both languages, so you can explain what you're experiencing well. Her assistant doesn't speak Spanish, but she knows some words. The process was quick; I only had to sign a few documents before the appointment, and that was it. If you want to read them carefully, you should arrive with more time, at least half an hour early.

The appointment was very rushed and impersonal. The tech taking my vitals in history was unable to spell sciatica or really any of the pretty common conditions needed for my medical history. The doctor herself did not even lay a hand on me or do anything besides refer out. She insisted my gynecology appointment the week prior took care of everything…

Dr. Castillo and her staff were very friendly and warm. Dr. was Castillo was very clear in explaining the process for referrals to me and how care would be coordinated with my previously established oncologist. Coordinating care and receiving personalized healthcare is very important to me and navigating the requirements of an HMO can be difficult. She was very transparent in communicating that while I might not always be able to be seen by her, she coordinates with a staff including 2 other physicians, nurse practitioners and another office. I did not feel rushed or conversely that my time was wasted with over explanation. I feel like this will be a good move for me personally as I prefer a smaller facility.

I would not recommend TexanCare Family Medicine Clinic at 601 Leah Avenue. I have no opinion of Dr. Castillo. I booked an annual checkup with Dr. Adriana Castillo but was put with NP Arthur Mandy instead. Arthur spent a significant amount of time giving me unsolicited advice on managing my mental health which is a condition I am already being treated for. His suggestions were the tired life-advice platitudes you'd hear from a coach, e.g., 'you need to learn to love yourself', as well as several inappropriate comments about women and his 3 divorces. Entirely unprofessional. He also made unfounded assertions about my diagnosis and my medication. Leave the mental health advice to the specialists, guy. The concerns I came into the office with were hardly addressed, and I was prescribed medication without much of a conversation. When I was checking out, a Dr. noticed an obvious error with my vitals, and I had to be retested. Overall, I left the office 2 hours later, issues unresolved.

I went to talk about my test results but found out she was able to do my annual which came with a paper smear! Was as easy as pie and not uncomfortable at all!

After having trouble scheduling appointments with my previous DR, I made appointment with Dr. Castillo. I couldn't stop smiling because I didn't have the pain I had just walked in with. First visit, and she took care of the issue instead of " trying" this and that. Felt like previous DR I was seeing was not invested in my recovery but only prolonging my pain .
