About Dr. Amy (Chian-Huey) Hong

Dr. Hong was born in Taipei, Taiwan. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1982 and resides in Houston, Texas. She graduated Cum Laude from Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Med and Economics. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Her internship, ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship were completed at Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans.
Dr. Hong is an ophthalmic staff member of the Key-Whitman Surgery Center. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology and the Texas Ophthalmological Association and she is a fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a staff member at Arlington Memorial Hospital and Health South Arlington Day Surgery Center and is licensed to practice medicine in Texas and Louisiana.
Dr. Hong is trained in all aspects of General Ophthalmology. Her surgical expertise includes cataract, glaucoma and refractive surgery. Dr. Hong performs LASIK surgery which corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. She utilizes IntraLase® and Wavefront customized treatments. She is credentialed to provide her patients with premium refractive lens implants which include Crystalens® and ReSTOR®. These implants allow patients to see near, intermediate, and far distances without glasses or contacts. Dr. Hong specializes in Medical and Surgical Management of Glaucoma including Laser Trabeculoplasty, Endocyclophotocoagulation, Glaucoma Filtering Surgeries and Implantation of Glaucoma Drainage Devices.

I have been seeing Dr. Hong for a few years. She did my cataract surgery in 2015. No problems with that. She has worked me in to her busy schedule every time I have had any issue. I trust her to take care of my eyes!

The ladies at the front when I walked in was not friendly. Never looked me in my face and was busy doing other work as I stood there trying to make conversation but was not interested. The young lady who did my pre testing was great and pleasant as she answered my questions. She made my visit pleasant until I went back to visit the doctor. The assistant who came in with the doctor bedside manner is terrible. I am there concerned about my vision and she constantly kept telling me what I did wrong and how it was my fault. She kept saying “you did it to yourself!” I was so frustrated when I left the office and the doctor did seem like she cared what the assistant was saying to me.

Always feel rushed in this office. At least this time I didn't get lost in their system while waiting for eyes to dilate. Dr. Hong is OK, Key-Whitman Eye Center's organization leaves a lot to be desired.

I chose this doctor because she was an MD. Nowhere in her bio did it say she does not treat people strictly for eye exams for contact lenses. Not until she started the exam did I find out she does not perform this exam. I was then directed to see another doctor. Waited a while because I had no appointment with anyone else.
