About Dr. Andrew Burkhart

Andrew Burkhart, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the Indiana University (IU) School of Optometry. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from IU Bloomington. During optometry school, he interned at Keesler AFB Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi, Faust/Gelvin Eye Center in Marion IN, IU-Indianapolis Eye Care Center, and IU Atwater Eye Care Center in Bloomington. Dr. Burkhart is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the Indiana Optometric Association (IOA), and the Wabash Valley Optometric Society. He has volunteered his time serving his optometric colleagues as a member of the Board of Trustees of the IOA. He is a lifelong member of South Side Christian Church in Kokomo, having served as both a deacon and an elder of the church. Dr. Burkhart and his wife, Krista have three children, Karlie, Cassidy, and Alex. He is a fan of all sports, especially local high school sports, and spends time cheering on the Colts, the Pacers, the Cincinnati Reds, and is a huge fan of IndyCar racing and the Indy 500.

I was there for about an hour in a half or 2 hours they were very busy so I didn’t mind waiting but I did think it was kinda like oh okay I thought I was forgotten

Dr. Burkhart is caring and compassionate, as well as professionally excellent. He is the reason I continue to use Preferred Eye Care.

I get a thorough exam from Dr. Burkhart and am completely satisfied with it. I like frames that are rimless on the bottom only and you do not have many for women to choose between. I found one men’s frame that I liked on me but the side pieces looked too industrial for me to select them.
Eye exam and doctor were great. Getting new lenses was the worst experience I’ve had. Order placed 12/21/2022. Called back in mid January to check status and was on hold for 30 minutes waiting to see if they were in. A week later I came to office and a helpful person at the desk said she would follow up and let me know where they were. She said there was in issue at the lab and they were remaking them. I stopped at the office the first week of February and after checking with the lab, the were being packaged for shipping. I picked up glasses the following day. The didn’t seem correct, but I was told to try them a couple of days. Still not good. Came to office on 2/13/2023 to ask them to be checked, and I was told they were a prescription for distance, which I didn’t ask for. I was clear when placing my initial order that i needed computer glasses. Now, I am waiting again. I paid nearly 2 months ago for a product that I still don’t have. During the initial month-plus wait, no one ever c

The staff and Dr. Burkhart have always been great. The only thing that I think can be approved upon is the wait time. For me the neuropathy and arthritis are killers if I have to sit very long.
