Dr. Funkhauser is joining East Cooper OBGYN in February of 2016. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in biology in 1997. Following her undergraduate studies, she continued on to medical school at the University of Iowa, graduating in 2002. She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, and became board certified in obstetrics and gynecology in 2008.
Dr. Funkhauser has special gynecologic interests in vulvar skin conditions and alternatives to hysterectomy. In addition to comprehensive obstetric care, she has specific interests in infertility evaluations, counseling for genetic screening, and exercise during pregnancy.
"I encourage patients to participate in their own care, discussing treatment options and allowing the patient to choose the plan of care that is best suited to their own particular needs."
Dr. Funkhauser is married and has two sons. She enjoys running, cycling and sailing, as well as reading and working crossword puzzles.

New to the area, and so glad I found Dr. Funkhauser! She was very down to earth, and made me feel so comfortable and welcomed. I loved that she actually took the time to sit down with me and go over my health history, and covered any concerns that I had. She was very thorough, and didn’t make me feel rushed at all. Definitely didn’t feel like just another patient to her, and felt that my health actually mattered.

What a pleasant experience! I have a phobia of doctors appointments and this was the most comfortable I have ever been in any office with any doctor. The wait room was clean and VERY comfortable. Each member of the staff was friendly and genuine. Dr. Funkhauser was kind, informative, and professional. I am a new patient, but was treated like I have been going to this office for years.

She was so awesome! I felt very comfortable as Dr. Funhauser came in and sat to chat before the exam even starting. The wait time was less than 10 minutes and the whole exam from start to finish was also only 10 minutes or so. So happy I came across her!
