He is a compassionate and enthusiastic board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist who specializes in treating all aspects of your eye health. Dr. Sorrentino is one of four children, all of whom share a career in medicine. He was taught from a young age the importance of health care from his parents, a pharmacist and a nurse. Born and raised in Ocala, Florida, Dr. Sorrentino has always felt Florida was home and is proud to return to his roots and serve this beautiful coastal community. Forever a Gator, he graduated from the University of Florida with an undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Cell Science. He earned his medical degree in Miami at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. It wasn’t until medical school that he found his true calling, ophthalmology. After medical school, he completed his internship at the University of Hawai’i and then focused his studies on ophthalmology. Dr. Sorrentino completed his ophthalmology training at the University of Pittsburgh in 2018. Following his training, Dr. Sorrentino practiced ophthalmology at Kaiser Permanente in Northern California . After five years, his journey brought him back home to Florida. This experience was an invaluable part of his early career. His experience working in such a large and complex institution allowed for close interaction with many specialists and has helped to perfect and shape his expertise and practice. Dr. Sorrentino is a medical and surgical ophthalmologist trained in managing eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, and cataracts. He looks forward to his experience and knowledge complementing the team at Clay Eye. Dr. Sorrentino strives to serve the community not only with compassion and enthusiasm, but with the latest evidence-based care and cutting edge technology.
