Dr. Tabak is a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree, and the University of Iowa. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of both the American Optometric Association and the Illinois Optometric Association. While all licensed Doctors of Optometry may use OD after their names, fewer than 15% of optometrists practicing in the United States are Fellows of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). This designation is granted only to those who have demonstrated professional competence and met the rigorous qualifications set by the Academy, reflecting excellence in the field of optometry. Dr. Tabak maintains a private professional optometric practice, allowing him to provide individualized patient care.
