About Dr. David Thomas Plaxico

David T. Plaxico, MD, received his Bachelor of Science from Wofford College. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his internship at Vanderbilt University Hospital. After serving as General Medical Officer and Pediatrician in the US Army at West Point, N.Y., Dr. Plaxico completed his residency in Pediatrics at the University of Florida, Gainesville, followed by a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Augusta University (Medical College of Georgia). In 1981, he established the Allergy & Asthma Clinic of Macon to treat children and adults with allergic and immunologic diseases. Dr. Plaxico is board certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon. He is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, and the Bibb County Medical Association. He has served as a Board Director for the American Lung Association and as a regional teaching consultant for several pharmaceutical companies. Beyond his professional work, Dr. Plaxico is deeply connected to Macon through volunteer activities. He has served at troop and district levels of the Boy Scouts of America and continues on the executive board for the Central Georgia Council, BSA. He has received the District Award of Merit, Silver Beaver Award, and Vigil Order of the Arrow Award. He has served on the administrative board for Vineville United Methodist Church and supports its music and arts program. Additionally, he volunteers for the Friends of the Library at the Bibb County Library Old Book Sale, which funds local libraries. Dr. My goal is to provide comprehensive, compassionate care tailored to each individual's unique needs.
