About Dr. Drummond Vogan
Dr. Drummond Vogan is an allopathic physician and graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. He attended medical school as a US Army reservist under the Health Professional Scholarship Program. Following graduation, he entered residency in Emergency Medicine at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and achieved board certification in Emergency Medicine. Four years of active duty followed, with assignments as the brigade flight surgeon for the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade in the famed 101st Airborne Division. This assignment included a nine-month combat tour in Afghanistan. Dr. Vogan was next assigned as a staff attending physician in the residency program at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.
After receiving an honorable discharge, Dr. Vogan and his family relocated to Mesa, Arizona. For the next few years, he worked as an ER physician at Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital and with Dignity Health staffing their standalone emergency departments. In 2017, he was contacted by former Army colleagues and invited to join them as contractors for the Cleveland Clinic’s international operations. For the next five years, he participated as a member of a special medical team operating principally in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Like so many, the COVID pandemic had a profound effect on him both personally and professionally. Recognizing the need for change, he began his preparation for transition to private practice by becoming a diplomate with the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2021. His current academic focus is on achieving certification in Functional Medicine through the Institute of Functional Medicine by the end of 2023.
