I saw a different provider than the one I booked with no communication about this change. The provider I saw was not able to answer my safety concerns about a medication I was prescribed. Office was disorganized - misspelled my name, forgot to give me back my insurance card, wasn’t able to send in my prescription to pharmacy

I had a great experience in the office itself-friendly, attentive staff, Dr. Meltzer had a good bedside manner. I received entirely too many emails leading up to the appointment, mostly from Zocdoc-at least one per day for over a week before my appointment. This was ridiculous, but I imagine completely out of the control of Grand Central Optical.

The exam was thorough and I was seen immediately. However, Dr. Meltzer appeared annoyed by my questions and only answered them after continued prompting. If you’re the kind of person that just wants a routine eye exam and doesn’t care to ask questions then this office is fine. If you care to have a comprehensive understanding of your results then I would advise you go elsewhere. I insisted on asking for a printout of my results, which I subsequently ran through ChatGPT.

The doctor is straight to the point and efficient. Not the friendliest or chattiest, but fine. I also did not understand prior to my appointment that I have to pay separately for a contacts exam. I felt slightly rushed, I didn’t get much detail on types of contacts I could choose. Overall it was fine and a quick appointment.

Dr. Erica Meltzer is the best OD I’ve ever been to! She is professional, knowledgeable, and makes for a great experience while getting your eyes examined. Plus she knows exactly what glasses or sunglasses look great on your face! I look forward to my appointments with her. Highly recommend!
