About Dr. Ismail Shalaby

Dr. Shalaby earned his Doctor of Medicine at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and then finished his ophthalmology residency at the Jonas Friedenwald Eye Institute at the University of Maryland. He also earned his PhD in Pharmacology from The University of Chicago. In addition to his experience and training, Dr. Shalaby is also certified to utilize the latest advancements in glaucoma treatment by using micro-stents in combination with cataract surgery. He is also a dry eye specialist and has earned a certification from the Dry Eye Center of Excellence to use intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy to treat and manage dry eye symptoms that are caused by blockage of the meibomian glands. Dr. Shalaby is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Maryland where he teaches Residents and Medical students Ophthalmology. He is also involved in Clinical Research and has published over 80 Papers and Abstracts, as well as Books and Book Chapters.
