Getting to know Jessenia Rivera

My hope is that every client leaves our sessions feeling seen, heard, and supported. I want you to feel grounded in your experiences and empowered in your growth. Together, we’ll explore what’s showing up for you emotionally, mentally, and relationally—always with compassion and intention. You can expect to walk away with more clarity, greater self-awareness, and practical tools to help you navigate what’s ahead. I specialize in working with children, teenagers, and young adults, helping them build emotional awareness, resilience, and confidence as they move through life’s transitions. At the same time, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals across all age groups, supporting each person through their unique seasons of growth and change. I often encourage reflection beyond our sessions, so the work we do together doesn’t just stay in the therapy room—it becomes part of your everyday life. Above all, I want you to leave each session with a sense of quiet confidence that begins to grow from within. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and I want you to know you’re not alone in it. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready to approach things differently, I offer a space where you can feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood. If you’re curious about what working together might look like, I invite you to reach out. The provider is a “Licensed Professional Counselor" and their license number is 37PC00867800.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often share that they feel genuinely heard and supported in our sessions. I take a very attentive and hands-on approach, creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can show up as you are. My style is conversational and collaborative, we’ll spend time really exploring what brought you into therapy and uncovering the patterns, emotions, and experiences at the root of it all. I often incorporate creative exercises and interactive activities to help you connect more deeply with your thoughts and feelings. While I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques, my foundation is person-centered, meaning I meet you exactly where you are. Together, we’ll move at your pace—focusing on growth, clarity, and developing tools that support you both in and outside of our sessions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, often called the intake session, we’ll take time to get to know one another and discuss what brought you to therapy. I’ll gather some background information, explore your presenting concerns, and talk through family and relational dynamics that may be relevant. Together, we’ll begin to create treatment goals that reflect what you want to gain from the therapeutic process. After that, each session builds on those goals. We’ll focus on the areas you’ve identified as most important, working collaboratively toward insight, growth, and meaningful change at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
