About Dr. John Tatar

John Tatar, O.D., received his Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2023. He completed three years of undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Chicago as a Biology major before being accepted into Illinois College of Optometry's early admission program in 2019. Dr. Tatar's passion for optometry was sparked when his older sister, also an optometrist, prescribed him his first pair of glasses. Experiencing the clarity he had been missing ignited his interest in the field. After working as a technician at his sister's private practice, where he enjoyed interacting with patients, he decided to take the next step and become an optometrist himself. Dr. Tatar enjoys meeting new patients and hearing their personal stories. He then tests his knowledge to find solutions for their individual eye care needs. To Dr. Tatar, creating lasting relationships with his patients by helping improve their quality of life through eye care health is a reward.
