Slept on time and great bedside manner. Great understanding
Dr. Anderson-Cowell is an amazing professional. She communicates very effectively with me in a caring manner. Dr. Anderson-Cowell answers all of my questions and proposes effective treatment options. She is the BEST.
Dr Anderson-Cowell is a outstanding allergist. Through immuno-therapy, she has been very successful at removing most of my allergies, and she is willing to try new approaches to help with removing the rest. I highly recommend her.
Happy that she is taking care of me :-)
I was escorted to the exam room almost immediately after arrival, and Valerie came in right away to check my vitals. After she finished it was just a couple of minutes before Dr. Anderson-Cowell came in, and she was her usual friendly, professional self. This was an annual followup visit, and since there wasn't anything out of the ordinary to discuss, and no meds changes, we were done and I was on my way in less than 30 minutes from start to finish. The AADA office is comfortable, the exam rooms are bright and cheerful, and the staff is friendly and efficient.
She has a scribe, so she is able to talk to her patients without having to document on the computer. LOVE THIS!
Dr Anderson-Cowell is professional, smart kind and action-oriented.
Doc was pleasant, interviewed me thoroughly and staff was competent. I felt that tests were done and not interpreted for me; I had to ask a lot of questions about the specifics of the breathing and scratch tests, rather than being told automatically. (Did they think I would not understand?) Doctor did not return to office to consult with me about results, sending the technician back with prescriptions without interpretation or possible side effects to look out for. Also, Doctor was not familiar with something I felt was a fairly common environmental condition in Portland, and she said she was not familiar with this and would "research;" when I asked several times if that would be done for me as a concern, I got no assurances from anyone.
Saw this allergist on advice of my GP re: a chronic dry cough for ~1 yr due to itching/tickling in the back of my throat. I have a known allergy to cats and dogs, well-controlled on Allegra-D for 15 yrs. Have pets but no no new animals. Have had chest x-ray, sinus CT, etc. so GP said to see an allergist and maybe a pulmonologist. Initial visit: Brought previous allergy test results to appt but apparently it is practice to do their own allergy testing. Staff failed to communicate to me that an allergy test would be done, so I did not stop my antihistamine prior to visit. They acted like it was my fault for not knowing. I felt like they were annoyed with me. Second visit for said allergy test: when dr came in to review results, suggested that maybe my problem was due to our pets. When I reminded her that I have had pets for 20 yrs, have been on allergy meds for 15, and the "problem" was this chronic cough which is new this year, she said, "You should see a pulmonologist. Good luck to you." A waste of my time and money, not to mention five days of misery off my meds to learn nothing of any importance, other than she was not interested in helping me with my health problem.
Dr. Anderson-Cowell is an excellent allergist. She is an outstanding listener and tailors a treatment plan to exactly what you need. The treat is very effective at either reducing and/or removing my allergies to various allergens. I recommend her most highly.
I have had the pleasure to see Dr. Anderson-Cowell for over 5 years. Out of all the Allergists I have seen, she has been the best and only one to truly listen to my needs, wants, and discuss openly about treatment options. She consulted me on medications, finding the balance between what worked best for me but would not break the bank, and has consistently advocated with my insurance carriers over the years for treatment benefits. I would highly recommend her without hesitation. She is truly one of the top Allergy experts in the area if not the best.
I LOVE Dr. Anderson-Cowell! However, it usually takes about 90 minutes from appointment time to leaving the clinic. My appointment was for 2:35 today. I got there about 2:20. I was taken back to get vitals, medicine changes, etc., and then do the breathing tests at about 2:45. That part took about 30 minutes, and then I waited for Dr. Anderson-Cowell until about 3:45. One of the reasons I love Dr. Anderson-Cowell so much is that she acts like she has all the time in the world for me while still being efficient. She was with me for about 10-15 minutes and I did not feel rushed. I really like that she makes me feel like I am her only patient, and she remembers details about me and my other doctors that I would not expect her to remember. I think perhaps ideally the scheduling could be a little farther apart for each patient. Because I love her so much, I just know that my appointments are going to take at least about 90 minutes, and a lot of that time will be waiting--first to get in, then to wait for the breathing test steps to be completed, and finally waiting for the doctor.
I spend more time with the nurse/admin than I do Laurel herself. Her bedside manner does not feel sincere and both times I have seen her is less than 15 minutes. I feel like she does not know my file intimately enough to make any decisions regarding my allergy needs. Dr. Demerrel was much more involved in the process.
Dr. Anderson-Cowell is always friendly yet professional at the same time. She'll take the time with you that you need and not rush through the visit, which is unusual these days. Plus my allergies are so much better than they have been in years and years! I can breathe and no longer have to spend the summer with tissues stuffed up my nose!
Truly awful. Didn't listen to what I was asking for and was quite belligerently aggressive. Stay away.
She is right on. Dr and her staff got right with my situation. They were courteous and friendly. They were highly knowledgeable with my condition(Urticaria-Hives). We came to a quick solution and I was on my way.
Dr. Anderson-Cowell was very nice & courteous. Although I had to repeat what I had already told the nurse, the doctor did ask some additional questions and gave some suggestions as to a diagnosis.
The entire staff are very friendly and intelligent and break things down for you to understand... Dr. Anderson is really nice and her smile makes you feel so comfortable and her calm confident manner makes you feel like you're in good hands. :)
I really enjoyed my time with Dr. Anderson-Cowell. She is very calming and has a wonderful bedside manner.
I really want to like this doctor, but so far my visits have been mediocre. See seemed forgetful (actually did forget that I am taking antihistamines right after we discussed it) on both visits. My face-time with her was cursory, which may be a statement on the practice more than the doctor, but I feel that we were not able to discuss things thoroughly, or follow through on a passing, casual reference she made suggesting that I see a specialist for a related issue. She's in and out of the room pretty fast, and things feel rushed, from my end. Again, this may be due to the practice, but I left both times feeling like we didn't really delve thoroughly into everything. Care from the support staff, nurses and assistants was satisfactory.
Very professional staff and attention to your medical needs was priority. Good explanation of medications prescribed.
I've been a patient of Dr. Anderson-Cowell for over 10 years. Her and her staff are great people, and very helpful and professional. They have all taken very good care of me over the years.
This was a followup one month after my initial visit. Dr. is very friendly but business-like in her approach. She included a personal touch (asking about my wife) which was appreciated.
Very professional and very thorough. Clean, well kept office. Friendly, competent staff.
She is very nice and kind.
I love DC. Anderson-Cowell! She is so friendly and also really knows her stuff. I would highly recommend her to everyone.
The people were wonderful, but the wait time awful. I arrive promptly at 3:00. I had filled out many documents on line. I was called back within 10 minutes. The nurse left me at around 3:20. I didn't see the doctor until a few minutes after 4:00. Driving from the eastside back across the river at that time of day is awful. I won't go back unless I must. This service should be on both sides of the river.
For a first visit with Dr. Anderson-Cowell I think everything went well. I expect that once we have a history of visits things will feel a little more at ease. She checked my history thoroughly and made recommendations that seem to be well-geared toward my systems. I feel she listened well, though did forget that I mentioned that I had nosebleeds. But overall, I feel positive about the visit. The support staff there, nurses, assistants and front desk, is amazing! Very personable and professional. I felt well-treated from start to finish.
As requested, I showed up at 7:45 for an 8am appointment. The first of the day. At 8:15 I was called back. I saw the doctor at 8:45. I do not understand how you can be so far behind so early in the day. It is simply inexcusable. She spent 2 minutes with me before she cut off the conversation and left. I didn't think two minutes was enough to convey information about symptoms and prior testing going back decades to my childhood, but I'm not a doctor. A nurse and I did a new round of allergy testing. The nurse did a wonderful job. Then the Dr came in and verified the results. If she had listened she would have learned that the results matched prior testing, and that there is more going on. But she seemed like she was in a hurry to leave. I thought she might be trying to catch up on other patients, maybe she had car trouble earlier and got a late start or something, but sadly no. I passed her on the way out lecturing someone on how it was important to stop and listen to people. I was at her office for an hour and a half. I saw her for a total of 3 minutes, and she didn't seem too interested in me or my circumstances.
Very personable and intelligent.
Arrived about 15 minutes late due to unavoidable personal reasons but I did not have to wait an extended amount of time to see the doctor. As usual, she asked various questions in order to arrive at a conclusion pertaining to my health at this particular appointment. Great personality, very caring and delves into details to ensure she has a grasp on the whole picture of your current health issues, She even takes the time to inquire about personal issues to the delight of myself as her patient. I am always happy to see her and feel she puts all her knowledge into an accurate diagnosis for me anytime i have an appointment with her. The nurses in the department are all very knowledgeable and friendly. You do not feel as though you are inconveniencing any one because you are not in the best of health at the time of the visit.
I appreciate her listening to my problems and doing something about it. I also appreciated that she was not ready to retire; like some of my other doctors. Granted doctors need a life, but it is so hard breaking in doctors.
She is looking hard for why I am having this persistent cough and trying many things. I thank her.
Outstanding doctor. She took the time to understand the issue, then did tests to verify the issue, and once she had more information, she talked with me about different paths forward. Refreshing efficient appointment (from the front desk to all the support staff) - friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Dr. Anderson-Cowell.
i had an excellent visit with Dr. Anderson-Cowell. She is very personable and communicates well. All of my questions were clearly answered. I would highly recommend her as a allergy/asthma specialist.
Dr. Anderson-Cowell and her staff are all extremely helpful, friendly and polite. I only have two frustrations. One is that I never know if we are going to have tests done before we go, and have to stop my child's allergy medicine just in case. That can sometimes be difficult for my child. The second is that the forms do not allow for a mixed race identification. It matters.
I was taken back 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. I waited in the examination room 30 minutes before I went out to ask if they had forgotten about me. The staff I asked told me I was next to be seen and that it was busy because of allergy season. This is not a valid excuse as it is essentially saying, "we are overbooking", or even, "we are incompetent at scheduling". Why did I even have to leave the room to ask why I had been forgotten about? At the very least, a member of the staff should have kept me updated as to why I was still waiting there. This is disrespectful to me and my time. Furthermore, I scheduled this appointment because the nurse told me I needed to get retested. The doctor spent a minute asking me about my symptoms and did nothing else that the nurse would have done. So essentially, this was a complete waste of my time and money. I am very disappointed.
The doctor and her assistant were great but I was there for 2.5 hours, which is ridiculous. It should have taken 30 minutes maximum to have a short conversation and a small allergy test.
Dr. Renee Anderson-Cowell rocks! After 40 plus years of allergies and shots, I am now shot free and doing well. Thank you Dr. Renee!
she was great gave me the care i needed and solved my issues!
The nurse did not fully understand my questions, and did not answer my questions well. She behaved like I am stupid. Felt like I got treated like an object that need to be fixed, not a patient.
This appointment got scheduled later in the month than it should have been but with the latest move for the Allergy, asthma, and immunology offices to it's current location in St Peterkort at St. Vincent hospital, things will happen. The appointment itself went well, I did not have a long wait, the nurses were pleasant and Dr. Anderson-Cowell gave me every assurance that all aspects of my care were totally under control. They did brief checks of blood pressure, pulse, etc. Doctor listened to my chest and checked my throat as well as my ears. She put me down for another appointment in three months and we will see how that goes. . T
My visit with Dr. Anderson-Cowell was excellent. This was a return visit to check on my asthma and see how I was breathing which was much better. Thank you, doctor.
Dr Anderson-Cowell was very courteous, however on a "new patient" appointment she didn't spend much more than 5 minutes with me. I had allergy testing in the office and while I'm sure the assistant who administered and read the testing was well trained, the Dr didn't bother to look at it herself. The "exam" consisted of brief history gathered orally, which I'd already given the assistant and provided on my paperwork. Then she listened to my lungs and looked in my mouth (and maybe nose?). Afterward, she left the room leaving me only to wonder if the appointment was over. Again, she was very nice, but she didn't do much to make me feel like she genuinely cared for my situation. She sent her assistant back in to recap the appointment and her recommendations - which might be fine with established patients, but I would've appreciated a little more in a new patient visit.
I was seen right away, even though I was early! Anita
Excellent!, Filled me in on the progression of the medication I was taking and advised me to discontinue another medication. She was right on and I am very confident in her prognoses and guidance.
I have seen Dr Anderson Cowell several times before. She has diagnosed and discussed my issues with me completely. Today I was having a problem with my condition as it had excaserbated. I believe today she has gotten me on to a solution to solve the issue. I would highly recommend here services.
Love this lady! She is highly knowledgeable, caring, and interested in me as a person -- in addition to my medical issues.
She accused me of having hives because of stress and told me to see a therapist instead of actually testing me for allergies. Waste of time.
I was a new patient. Dr Anderson-Cowell and her entire staff were friendly, professional and efficient. I was very pleased with the level of care.
I was taken right back to the examination room. After the preliminaries from the medical assistant, the wait for the doctor was not long. We got right to the point of my visit and already have an allergy testing plan.
She's a wonderful doctor, and seems to care for her patients.
Dr. Anderson-Cowell is the BEST! I highly recommend her!!
Dr. Anderson-Cowell is awesome. She has one of the 'bedside manners' of any doctor I have seen.
She is a good Dr. I think overbooked so a long wait time for about 10 min. Visit
I like Dr. Cowell she is very knowledgeable and at tentative to her patients. The only complain I have is that every visit we had, we had to wait an hour in the room after we have been called from the lobby. I do not understand why we have to wait that long when the visit itself is a half hour.
I thought her approach was thorough! I liked that!! Anita
My daughter & I both like Dr. Rene Anderson-Cowell. Our only complaint was being left waiting as long as we did to see her!
Dr. Anderson-Cowell is very professional and personable. However, she spent only 3 minutes with us on the follow up visit. Three minutes is not an office visit in my opinion, it is a drive by.
Dr. Rene Anderson-Cowell has been my allergy doctor for many years now. Every encounter I've had with her and her staff has been very positive and professional. Dr. Anderson-Cowell is a genuinely warm and caring person. She is intelligent and knowledgable, and shows great concern for the overall well being of her patients. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
She is very thorough and caring. She is a fantastic doctor.
Office temperature was cold, otherwise very friendly staff.
I was very upset by the time I left the appointment. We arrived just before 9 am and it took 10+/- with the receptionist at the front desk. She needed help from another receptionist. Once done with her, I sat down and waited for the nurse which only took about 5 minutes. Once with the nurse, she took us back to the exam room, asked us why we were here today, which I had put all that information online, she then had my daughter follow her out to weigh and measure her. Once they returned, she took patients temperature and then left us to wait for the doctor. She left the room around 9:25. The doctor did not arrive until about 10:30. She walked into the room with a gentleman who was wheeling in a computer. She did not introduce him or explain why he was there. It was rather uncomfortable. She then proceeded to ask us why we were here, which I already stated for the nurse and the doctor was not clear as to patients history before entering room. She spent about 5-7 minutes with us and then moved on. While I understand she had other patients to see, she gave no explanation as to her tardiness. My time is important too and we drove an hour to see this doctor. Once she left the room, the nurse came in, told me about the new medications they were placing the patient on and asked that we return in one month. She did not explain much in the way of what the medication was specifically for and seemed as though she was trying to rush us out. She never asked if we had any questions either. Our appointment was at 9:05 am and my daughter was not a new patient. She has been seen by this doctor since 2007. I plan on looking for another doctor.
While I feel like everyone is very proficient and well-informed, I was not happy with the amount of time that I spent waiting, not the amount of time that the doctor spent with me. On both visits, I waited for more than an hour, and felt that the time spent with the doctor was rushed and completely focused on her priorities for me, rather than my own concerns and input. Like I said, everyone knew what they were doing and seemed capable, but I felt that it was impersonal and a longer wait than necessary.
Very nice but super long wait.
She is personable and highly professional. Her staff is outstanding.
Always a great visit! Sometimes we have a bit of a wait but she is worth it! You never feel like you are being rushed and all questions are invited and answered. The assistants are wonderful and compassionate too!
Super staff with a super doctor! Considerate, helpful and kind.
Enjoyed the doctor it just took hours to be seen!
I was seen about 5 minutes before my appointment and was very happy with Dr. Rene as well as her staff. Professional, friendly, made my appointment easy.
She was obviously in a hurry today. They lost a doctor, which has everything in chaos.
I was late for my appointment, hence, the less than 30 minute wait. Dr came in and spent time discussing my history and current health status without rushing through my visit. I am always confident that she is committed to enhancing my overall health and well being.
Dr Anderson-Cowell and her staff are always so friendly, caring and helpful!
I felt it was a little too much time spent with medical assistant and not enough time with doctor. I would like to of had testing explained to me better. I would liked to of had results of testing better explained to me and explanation of what the medications were going to do for me that I was handed by the medical assistant. I felt rushed with the time I did have with the doctor.
She's terrific! And, her staff is really professional and friendly.
Based on the information in her bio, I was lead to believe she would be able to treat autoimmune related illness and had an understanding of the effect hormones can have. I had read about a common progesterone skin test done with depo-provera to test for progesterone allergy. The doctor I saw treated really basic alleries but not complex illness and had no idea how to test for progesterone allergy.
She is always very attentive and personable!
All staff very professional.
Dr. Cowell always helps resolve our allergy issues quickly and she is very friendly and professional.
This was the worst experience I ever had with a doctor. If you want a doctor who will give you instructions, expect you to blindly follow and walk out of the room before you get a chance to ask anything, then she is the doctor for you. She spent probably less than 5 minutes in the room with me. Within 30 second she ordered a bunch of allergy tests for me (which they can bill nicely for...) but could not take 5 minutes to explain the results or even give them to me in person. This doctor did not give me enough information to make an informed decision about my health and after two visits I am more confused than when I came in.
It was quick. Wait wasn't too long. She was very sweet w/ great bedside manners and remembered me, even though I hadn't seen her in a few years.
As usual the doc was smart, creative, and decisive. She tailored her advice to my condition and my personality (motivated, willing and able to do exactly what she suggests, even if it's a bit involved). The 80 minute wait to see her was excessive, and office staff intimated this was not unusual. As a busy professional myself it's something I don't understand as a business practice.
Great visit! She is always very friendly and we never feel rushed. Her assistant was fantastic as well. Highly recommend her!
Very prompt and needed attention provided with research into my history, treatment for my tight chest, medication, and medical advice regarding long term situations for the future.
Professionalism is clearly evident in this office. Thanks for caring and helping with my medical needs.
Wow. After we were finally seen nearly an hour late (for one of the first appointments of the day) it was fine. But waiting that long for an 8 am appointment seems a bit ridiculous. The office was completely full when we left almost 3 hours later so I guess we will still choose the 8 am slot and be an hour behind vs a later time being probably 3 hours behind.
My first visit with her and I could not be more pleased.
Easy to talk to. Very down to earth. Definitely recommend if you are looking for an allergy/asthma doctor
Dr Rene is always professional, friendly, and very thorough in her exams and advice. She explains everything very well.
As always Dr. Anderson-Cowell was friendly, personable, easy to talk to, & very professional. Her nurses are knowledgeable, friendly & also easy to talk to. I am reasonably healthy now, but I haven't always been. She has stuck with me to resolve my allergy & asthma issues over many years & I recommend her to anyone! Now that seasons are changing (fall) & people's allergies & asthma are kicking up, she had a number of urgent cases this morning & for the first time in a long time I had to wait a little. There have been times when I was ill & she was able to fit me in & around other appointments, so when I heard all the coughing go on I knew that she had done the same with another person. So it didn't bother me to wait a few minutes. Nurse Susan was very apologetic that I had to wait but it was only a few minutes & not a big deal. These folks are a class act!
I have been seeing Dr. Anderson-Cowell for many years now and have always been impressed with the office personnel. They are friendly and caring. This time I had allergy testing and Marla gives great shots (I think it was at least 16)! Dr. Anderson-Cowell is one of the most loving, caring and knowledgeable doctors I have ever had and I would recommend her to anyone looking for an allergist!!!
Very knowledgeable and compassionate. Great doctor! Office ran smoothly and I was seen right away. Lynn was great, too!
She was thorough and made me feel very comfortable.
The wait time was way too long. I waited for 60 minutes to see the doctor and then she spent only 3 minutes with me. She was very hurried. The nurse told me they were "slammed" that day. I suggested that they not schedule so many patients, that a one hour wait was way too long.
She spend maybe 5 minutes with me. Her nurse was more attentive than her. She barely asked two question and didnt pay attention to my explanations. She was there just to be there , not to find solution to my health problem.
Dr. Cowell is very clear, helpful and friendly. Myself and my son enjoy being able to see such a great doctor for allergy problems.
I was asked to come in 15 minutes earlier which I did but had to wait 45 to see the doctor and they had me sit in the hall way while they took my vitals because there was not a room available.
Thoughrogh and professional!
Dr. Anderson-Cowell took the time to help us understand the possible sources of my daughter's symptoms, which were NOT allergy related, it turns out. She also offered some referrals to other specialists. The entire staff was friendly and attentive to the needs of our toddler.
An overall great experience. Dr. Rene was Very helpful, informative, and answered all my questions. Everyone in the office was very pleasant to deal with, especially Valerie who remembered me from almost two years ago! Thanks for all the help, Sean Hudson
She is very thorough and a good listener. Be sure to have all you questions ready though. You will only see her in the room with you once and she won't ask if you have any questions so be ready to jump in! She is so kind and sincere though it worth the wait to see her :-)
She was very caring and seemed interested and helpful with my problems.
She is a sweet Dr. but over books her patients and every time myself or my children have had an appointment we have been there for hours!
She was very thorough with figuring out what I'm allergic to. She did tests right away and she wants me to follow up with her in 3 months.
Very caring about patients concerns.
Dr. Anderson-Cowell is one of my favorite doctors. She is thorough and takes her time to always ask about what might be going on with you besides the allergy issues. She always is completely there with you in the moment and you feel that she really cares about her patients. I believe that she might have saved my life when she asked me what else might be going on. I was having irregular heartbeats and she advised me to go to my doctor right away. I ended up having a very tricky heart ablation. In short, she is one of the best doctors I've ever had.
The wait time is always long (45-90 minutes) but when it's finally my turn I feel like I have my doctor's undivided attention.
She is always very personable and professional.
Was very warm and caring. Wished I'd went to her first! :)
One of my best physician experiences. Dr. Anderson-Cowell has a bedside manner that makes you feel better, drugs and treatment are a bonus!
The wait time is the only complaint I have. Staff and doctor are very friendly and I feel that my questions and concerns are welcomed and invited.
The visit went well, and Dr. Anderson-Cowell was personable and friendly as always. She always remembers who I am, though in this case, I had not been seen in many months. (Testimony to my allergies and asthma being well controlled with her treatment.) However, as always, I had a very long wait in her cramped waiting room and in the patient room. I had an 8:35 am appointment, and waited 20 minutes before I was called back into the office. Then I waited another half an hour before the doctor came in. Really, how far behind can the office be at 8:35am? This is a consistent problem with this practice, and makes me dread my appointments because of all the time I lose waiting.
She's always very thorough and personable. But I always have to wait a while once I've been put in a patient room. it was close to 30 minutes yesterday. That may be because Dr. Anderson-Cowell is so thorough :) Luckily, I bring reading material.
Rene is compassionate warm, knowledgeable and smart. She takes a deep interest in every patient and as soon as I am alone with her I have her full attention and confidence that I am going to leave her office feeling better.
It is hard to describe the positive experience I received at today's appointment. I have been a patient of Dr Anderson-Cowell for over 10 years. She is personable, highly intuitive and delivers outstanding care. Her entire staff support her thoughtful patient care and personal attention. The online appointment feature is yet another amazing reason to continue under her care.
She diagnosed my daughters. COndition quickly, and implemented a treatment plan.
