During my training, I found I enjoyed learning about patients' life stories and different aspects of their lives outside their health. When they had complex medical conditions or issues going on in their work or home lives, I always wanted to follow up and see how their journeys ended. Osteopathy, with its focus on the whole person, allows me to be the kind of doctor who integrates all aspects of a patient's life into their care. I focus on each patient as an individual and strive to listen, understand, and advocate for them. I'm also an believer of preventive health care. Outside medicine, my husband and I are parents to three, wonderful, busy children. When we're not taking them to ball games or band events, we write fantasy books together. And while I wouldn't call this a hobby, exactly, we're both engaged in fighting an endless battle against animal fur in the house, which is courtesy of our beloved pets - three cats and a Husky.

About Dr. Leann Rettell-Isla
