About Dr. Melissa Groves
Dr. Groves is a physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology at the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from The George Washington University.
She provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care, including annual gynecological exams, family planning, prenatal and postnatal care, STD testing and treatment, cancer screening, and diagnosis and management of gynecological issues.
Since completing her OBGYN training, Dr. Groves continues to improve her knowledge of both perimenopause and menopause care in order to better serve her patients. She attends both national and international meetings and conferences to keep current with the evolving management and care for these conditions. Dr. Groves is comfortable and familiar with prescribing both hormonal and non hormonal treatment for perimenopausal and menopausal patients.

Unfortunately this was an awful experience- to preface, I tend to have anxiety for any doctors visits but especially to gyno visits because of past experiences. Dr. Melissa and I did not mesh well, I found her commentary to be extremely inappropriate and condescending. Initially I was left in the office to change behind a curtain and mid changing the door was knocked- as I explained I was still changing Dr. Melissa said that was fine (No it's not?!). As we are communicating I explained my issues and fears she made comments that I found extremely inappropriate like "So do you just plan on never having sex?" (To which I replied I hope not) and "you're just opening and closing your legs doing thigh exercises" (Because I was very tense and apprehensive of having a speculum inserted in me). There were many issues and again very clearly we did not mesh well together. If you are extremely nervous about a gyno visit and have not been in a while please choose someone else!

Dr. Groves worked very fast, and not in a bad way either. More so efficient, all while being kind and communicative. She vocalized every step which helped mitigate any discomfort. This was my first time and it was a good experience.

The health center seems to be run like a very tight ship. Everyone was pleasant and efficient. Dr. Groves was also very pleasant and very efficient. I did not wait long at all and her exam was very quick and painless. Perhaps the most efficient doctor experience I've ever had.

My first prenatal checkup went great my provider Melissa Groves was kind , clear and communicative. I feel very at ease with her and relax. She made my first ultrasound experience go smoothly.

I moved cities. She is awesome, by far the best OBGYN I have ever had. I'm sad to not continue with her! all of my appointments were timely, she saw us often during the start of my pregnancy, and spent her time getting to know us. She really made an impression on us. Thank you Dr Groves.

I am so happy to chose Dr Groves at the Charles B. Wang Community Center. I've been needed an OB/Gyn and had a hard time finding someone who accepted my insurance and had availability. Dr. Groves was warm, friendly, professional and informative, as was the rest of the medical staff. The staff in the reception area were patient and friendly. The building was clean and pleasant. I am a happy new patient.

During my consultation I gave the nurse my concerns and a brief history of my reproductive health over the past several
Months and what I would like to address in the appointment and why it was a concern for me.
Dr. Groves then came in and flat out said I can either have her do my annual or address my other concerns. But she could not do both…. I was so confused?! Isn’t the issues in my reproductive and vaginal health directly related to my annual visit?! She said it was because of insurance procedures… that’s fine but then if need be bill me for the tests and other concerns.
I have never been to a more dismissive women’s HCP. Especially in todays climate in the country for women’s health I would never imagine to visit this practice again when I can’t even get the Dr. to hear out my concerns and offer solutions not oh just book another appointment and come back… ???

Dr. Groves was amazing. She answered my questions throughly and addressed each of my concerns with care. This truly has been the best obgyn experience I’ve had in NY in 4 years.

Dr. Groves’ bedside manner is impeccable. She made me feel very comfortable and safe. She was also very knowledgeable about my health conditions and I felt she understood exactly what I needed and how to treat me. Her staff was also incredible. Very polite and patient. They took the time to explain and repeat their explanations when I needed. They were sensitive as well. I would 1000% recommend her to any woman needing an excellent lady parts doctor.

Dr. Groves is an absolute gem! As a first-time mom, I was filled with anxiety and questions, but Dr. Melissa made me feel completely at ease from the moment I walked in. Her expertise and compassionate demeanor are unmatched.
She took the time to explain every step of my pregnancy journey in a way that was easy to understand. Her office staff is also incredibly friendly and helpful. I feel so lucky to have found such an amazing OB-GYN. I highly recommend her to any expecting mother.
