About Dr. Michael Matthews

Mike Matthews, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry. He completed his undergraduate studies at Indiana Wesleyan University. Dr. Matthews has been practicing optometry since 1996 and provides comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages in Grant and surrounding counties. He was honored as the Muncie Area's finest Optometrist in 2015 and 2016 by Star Press readers. Dr. Matthews is a married father of three and remains actively involved in his church.

I'm always greeted with respect and a warm smile. The doc and staff always listen and give advice.

This was my son's first eye doctor appointment and he was so excited. He said everyone was so nice to him and he wanted to come back. For a 6 year old to say he wants to come back to the doctor I'd say that's a real win!
The receptionist was so great! Somehow our appointment got cancelled but she was able to get us in even though it was caused her more work she was so gracious and understanding. I work at a busy medical office so I know that isn’t easy so I appreciate her professionalism and kindness to get us in.

The staff are always helpful, kind, and informative. My children feel comfortable with the staff and Dr. Matthews. The only issue my family and I have ever encountered is sometimes there isn't enough seating in the front waiting area. But overall AMAZING experience at every appointment.

I have nothing but the best to say about Dr. Matthews!! He is thorough and careful and so kind and easy to converse with. I am so grateful to him for taking time during a routine eye exam, at the end of a long day, to dilate my eyes to check the condition of my retina. If he hadn't taken the time to do that, he wouldn't have seen the tear that was developing which ended in me getting retinal surgery to fix it. I'm so grateful for his good care of his patients!

Great service
I feel Dr. Matthews is very thorough and provides great care for my current and future vision needs. The main downside is that I've never had an appointment start even remotely near my appointment time. This past appointment was set for 9:15 a.m. and I arrived at 9:00 a.m.; however, my appointment with Dr. Matthews did not start until 10:10 a.m. and ended by 11:00 a.m. Having appointments start and end at a reasonable time would be beneficial for patients who have other schedules to keep.
