My passion for medicine was sparked by my grandmother who taught me at a young age the value of higher education and the importance of giving back to the community. I chose internal medicine because I enjoy figuring out complex medical diagnoses for patients, providing accurate and appropriate treatments, which would alleviate pain and suffering. Growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina, as an underserved family made me realize the inequality in healthcare, which further motivated me to become a physician. I practice medicine such that it is a partnership between doctor and patient. I strive to provide my patients with objective results and data along with my clinical expertise while allowing patients to have the autonomy to make an informed decision. When patients take ownership of their health, they will have better outcomes. I have presented at conferences and worked at multiple clinical research facilities including sepsis, migraine and juvenile dermatomyositis trials. My community service involvement includes serving as chair of the school improvement leadership team at Mallard Creek Elementary School and serving in a free clinic outreach program and community health centers. My husband and I are blessed with two sweet daughters and we love to travel. I like cooking for family and friends.
