Dr. Onyinye Igbokwe, MD

Primary Care Doctor
1480 Wesley Chapel Rd, Indian Trail, NC
Family medicine gives me the privilege of caring for people through every season of life. I see patients of all ages and believe that strong relationships, open communication and shared decision-making are the foundation of excellent healthcare. Originally from Enugu, Nigeria, I moved to the United States as a child, and those experiences have deeply shaped my commitment to serving diverse communities and improving health both locally and globally. My approach centers on meeting each patient where they are. I adapt to each person's unique journey while also encouraging what I call the "boring basics" – eating well, exercising consistently and caring for yourself – because those simple habits are what make a healthy, vibrant life possible. Outside of my clinical work, I serve as chair of the UIUCares Foundation, where I lead initiatives focused on expanding access to healthcare, education and community development in underserved communities in the United States and Nigeria. Mentoring future physicians is also something that matters deeply to me. When I'm not in the office, you'll likely find me cheering loudly from the sidelines as my children and nephews compete in soccer, volleyball and basketball. Family time with my husband, children and extended family is where I recharge.
