About Dr. Ricardo Tan
Dr. Tan has been in private practice in Allergy and Clinical Immunology since 1996. He competed his fellowship training in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California in 1995. He has been named a “Southern California Super Doctor” by Los Angeles Magazine in the field of allergy since 2010 to the present. Dr. Tan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology ( AAAAI) and the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology ( ACAAI) . He is a Past President of the Los Angeles Society of Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology ( LASAACI).
He earned his medical degree from the University of the Philippines in Manila and completed his Internal Medicine residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo Residency Consortium in Buffalo, New York. He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force Medical Corps stationed in Del Rio, Texas from 1991-1993.
He has served as an officer or committee member of many specialty societies, including the California Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (CSAAI), and the International Association of Filipino Allergists & Immunologists (IAFAI). He is on the Editorial Board of the Annals of Allergy , Asthma and Immunology . He is the co-author of Practical Allergy, a textbook for primary care physicians, and has contributed chapters to Manual of Allergy and Immunology and other textbooks. He has published numerous articles in journals such as the Journal of Allergy & Clinical Immunology ( JACI) and the Journal of Asthma. He is very active in clinical research trials for new asthma and allergy medications.

Dr. RIcardo was excellent! He was friendly and listened to and answered all my questions and never felt like he was rushing me out. His staff was very friendly and kind took the time to explain how my allergy test worked and things they were looking for. They answered all my questions, and even did a follow call to remind me about a prescription I forgot to ask about before I left. I'm also going to have my wife now use him as well as her new allergist.

Dr. Tan was great. He’s very knowledgeable and took time to explain everything. The staff was very friendly as well. My only complaint is that the front desk staff do not wear their masks at all times. The lady kept pulling her mask down and talking without it on.

Dr. Tan has been the most helpful doctor. He took the time to ask a lot of questions and work on finding a thorough diagnosis.He really cares about his patients and wants to solve the problem, not just mask it. I really like his aggressive approach to finding a solution. The front office and nurses are also exceptional -- they are kind spirited and very organized. I love walking in and seeing them before I go in to see the doctor. They're very helpful and polite, which is great when you are ill or stressed out.

Dr Tan was patient and allowed my to list my many symptoms. Some doctors rush you and cut you short while explaining your reasons for visiting, but he listened, took diligent notes, and asked important questions. He took great care in explaining my allergies and his prescribed treatment, and I felt very well cared for. His entire staff was warm, kind, and engaged with my chattiness :) Overall a great experience and a doctor I'm happy to go back to! The only negative is expensive parking -- I'd definitely recommend looking for street parking and avoiding the parking garage.

I have had allergy symptoms for many years yet never made them time to see an allergist, until I woke up this morning with swelling in my face. I was lucky enough to get a same day appointment with Dr. Tan. The doctor and his entire staff were patient and kind, and I feel more in control of my allergies after the visit. The entire staff was courteous and got me in right away. Dr. Tan was great. He understood my symptoms and put me on a course of treatment that's helping greatly.
