About Dr. Robert Gunzenhauser

Dr. Robert Gunzenhauser is a UCLA-trained, board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist with specialized expertise in premium cataract surgery and advanced sub-specialty training in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard College, graduating cum laude, before obtaining his medical degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine. There, he graduated in the top 10% of his class, earning early induction into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society as a junior student. He was also recognized with the David Bryan Sloan Award for Excellence in Ophthalmology. Dr. Gunzenhauser completed his ophthalmology residency at UCLA’s world-renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute, following which he was subsequently selected to continue advanced fellowship training in glaucoma at UCLA. A recognized leader in his field, Dr. Gunzenhauser has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Glaucoma. He has presented his research at ophthalmology conferences across the U.S. and internationally. His clinical and academic interests include early glaucoma detection, both standard and laser-assisted premium cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma procedures, laser-based glaucoma therapies, and advanced surgical management of glaucoma. Outside of his professional work, Dr. Gunzenhauser enjoys spending time with his wife and family, staying active, and reading non-fiction. He is fluent in English and Spanish and is currently learning Armenian.
