Dr. Fechtel started his career in Chiropractic Orthopedics graduating from Western States Chiropractic College. After practicing in chiropractic for 12 years, he went back to medical school at Oregon Health Sciences University. He completed his neurology residency at University of Arizona School of Medicine, and then worked in private practice in Springfield, Oregon before joining Foothills Neurology in 2006.
Dr. Fechtel is currently working part-time as a consultant in Medical Neurology and Chiropractic Orthopedics with Medical Evaluations of Alaska.

WOW!! I have impossibly high standards, but Dr. Scot Fechtel met all of them. He actively LISTENS to the patient (something of a lost art among many physicians). He expressed a dedication to critical thinking in his role as a diagnostician which both impressed and reassured me. When was the last time you left your doctor's office wondering whether he had heard you at all (especially since he seemed to express little interest in hearing about any of the details surrounding your complaint)? WON'T HAPPEN HERE. Did he seem ready to tackle your problem from all angles or did you feel that the 'prescription' you received was more of a rushed and automated response to your issue? Finally, 'brevity' may be the 'soul of wit', but a doctor who does not take the time to explain his thought process is, as far as I am concerned, no laughing matter. I ENJOYED my visit. When was the last time you said THAT about a trip to your doctor? He did not disappoint (besides, I am a physician myself).

One of the best I’ve ever seen. He was through, professional, a good listener, and had a good sense of humor. He was willing to take the time needed so as a patient I felt like my time with him was as important to him as it was to me. I left there feeling very hopeful and feeling a mor proactive role was possible to stop the constant headache.

Dr Fechtel was very professional and thorough.

The office is a bit disorganized. I had to fill out identical paperwork several times and the front desk seems a bit confused. However, Dr Fechtel is awesome. He really seems to love his job and takes the time to work with you on your issues. I highly recommend the doctor, just be prepared for an office that may not run as smoothly as it could.

I must say I've run across countless medical doctors in my lifetime but I've never taken the time to ever write a review for any of them but I said today that if I had the opportunity to do so that I would. Dr. Fechtel is probably the most pleasant doctor I've met in decades and although it was only my first visit and we still have work to do to get to the bottom of things regarding my ailment he at least was willing to listen, provide feedback, and not appear to rush me out of his office like every other doctor I've had in the last few years has.
Kudos to him for his service......other doctor's should take some lessons from him.

Dr. Fetchtel is relaxed and caring. Takes time to figure out problem and hasn't over medicated me like my last neurologist. He has an email that he answers promptly if you have something urgent which is great. Highly recommend.

Dr. Fechtel really listened to everything I wanted to talk about, including issues that were not in his specialty. (I thought they may be related.) Other doctors seem to have a limit on how many things can be addressed at any one office visit. He also was excellent at explaining everything he did and what his assessment was at each step. Anyone who appreciates being informed will love him! He got to the heart of the problems that I have been battling for months in one visit! Best money I have spent in a very long time!! He also kept the mood light and even made me laugh a few times! In short he has that old fashioned country doctor mentality.
