About Dr. Steven McEldowney

Dr. McEldowney is Board Certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI); American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI); American Medical Association (AMA); American College of Physicians (ACP) and the North Carolina Medical Society.
Dr. McEldowney obtained his undergraduate degree at Northwestern University and a masters degree in science at Georgetown University. He earned his medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. He finished his medical internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at the prestigious Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. McEldowney completed a three year specialty fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin which is renowned for clinical research in asthma, viruses, and eosinophils (white blood cells). He completed an additional year of research and studied novel forms of immunotherapy and their effects on allergy and asthma symptoms and the immune system. He opened his solo practice in Blakeney to provide state-of-the-art allergy and asthma care with an emphasis on compassionate and timely service.

The lady that took our information was standoffish and treated us like she was doing us a favor. We waited for 40 minutes and decided to leave. There are plenty of doctors in Charlotte.

Unprofessional experience. Staff at this practice poorly handled my appointment, spoke to lady who scheduled and confirmed my appt between 2/3 calls and was instructed I needed to take allergy pill morning/day of my appointment. The lady instructed me INCORRECT information and even confirmed I would get an allergy test and allergy shot on the day of my appt. I drove 45 mins to be seen by Dr McEldowney with a 3 month old baby. I also had to wait 30-35mins to be seen for doctor to tell me the appointment setter gave me false information and I couldn’t get allergy test with an allergy pill in my system. However, I had already told the receptionist I don’t take allergy meds and how me taking allergy pill day of sounded off. She proceeded to instruct me to take it before I got to my appt. Also, this doctor kept beating around the bush with stupid irrelevant and repetitive questions and spokes extremely slow. This was a waste of time and extremely unprofessional. NOT coming back!

This was my first visit with Dr. McEldowney, and I was impressed. First his nurse and then he himself took time to listen, asking questions when they weren't sure of what I was saying. He explained to me the tests he was prescribing and why and answered my questions about those. Only downside was that I had to wait nearly an hour to see him, even though I had an early appointment time.

I would definitely recommend this doctor and his office. I was seen in a timely manner and he listened attentively to my concerns and came up with an action plan for me to follow and told me to call back if my symptoms didn’t improve and will be seeing me back in his office in 6 months for a follow up. He didn’t seem rushed to get to his next appointment and allowed me to ask any questions that I had. I felt very comfortable and at ease with him for my first visit and that meant a lot to me.
