About Dr. Thuy Tran
Dr. Thuy Tran earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry. Her training included an emphasis on the treatment and management of glaucoma, retinal vascular diseases, and anterior segment pathology. She provides comprehensive eye care for all ages and has a special interest in pediatrics, including children with Downs Syndrome, Autism, and ADHD. She is a provider for InfantSEE®. She also performs specialty contact lens examinations for patients with keratoconus and other corneal diseases.
Dr. Tran was named as one of the top optometrists in America by Newsweek Magazine. She was the President of the Optometric Society of New York City and Metropolitan Trustee of the New York State Optometric Association. For her leadership, she was honored with the Theia Award of Excellence and the Dr. Gerardine J. Sherman Endowed Memorial Award. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor of the State University of New York, College of Optometry.
Dr. Tran has traveled to Haiti, Colombia, and Vietnam for medical mission trips. She is clinically proficient in Spanish and fluent in Vietnamese.

This is not a review of the doctor because the doctor I made an appointment with was not there. This is a review of the office’s billing practice. They charged me more than what I should have paid, and did not submit the claim until I called them later. They also lied to me that they already submitted the claim to the insurance company but from the record it was not received until after I called. Regardless whether they did it on purpose or not, it caused me a lot of trouble and wasted my time. In addition, the doctor they let me see (not this doctor) tried to convince me to do additional exams with her.

She is very nice and gave me right treatment.
She followed up next week to make sure that my eye problem was healed.
I would go back to see her whenever I need eye doctor.
Receptionists are also very nice.

This was such a pleasant experience! Everyone was super friendly as well as refreshingly upfront and transparent about pricing. Dr. Tran was fantastic and explained everything in great detail. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to change contact type or not and she was happy to provide me with two options and even gave me some contacts to try out. Can’t recommend enough.

Overall great experience at this office with Dr. Tran! Only negatives were waiting about 30 mins past our appointment time to actually be seen and they weren't familiar with our insurance policies (Davis/Guardian). We called the insurance company while we were there and had them speak to the front desk and everything was resolved pretty easily but it would've been nice to not have to have done that. But overall the clinical experience was superb and we will definitely be going back now that the kinks have been worked out.
Dr. Tran did a great job explaining everything to me and spent a great amount of time with me answering all of my questions.

I had a great appointment with Dr. Tran, she is much friendlier than my old optometrist. She was very thorough and informative at every point of my visit.
The only issue I had was the front desk told me my copay would be lower than it actually was but they did say I’ll be refunded the difference if my insurance ends up requiring the lower copay. Overall I had a great experience and would go back.

My first appointment with Dr. Tran was wonderful! She took time to listen, expressed empathy, shared what was going on, showed me her findings, and explained various treatment options. She was warm, kind, knowledgeable and gentle. She took her time and I sensed she really cares. I feel lucky to have found her!

Great office in the area. I would recommend to everyone especially with kids. The whole staff was so friendly warm and inviting & made sure my daughter was comfortable the whole time. Even when she was freaking out due to the eye drops and she has a fear of anything near her eyes they were so calm and made sure she was at ease. My whole family now will be coming.

I enjoyed my visit with Dr. Tran and her staff and would recommend their services. The eye exam was efficient, thorough and Dr. Tran provided insightful explanations about my current eye health and how her brand new, modern machines work. I felt I was in great hands especially considering how Dr. Tran mentioned she has done/does clinical work so I felt like beyond her daily work conducting exams as an optometrist, she also puts in a lot of effort to stay up to date with the latest eye tech/research. I also appreciated all clarity I was given on pricing, upgrades and what my insurance was going to cover. I was very happy to learn I would be covered for a contact lens exam as well and even received a trial box of contact lens so I could test them out. My insurance also covered frames, but I opted to use frames I bought from WP. Looking forward to the follow up appointment and to see how my new glasses turn out once I receive them.

Dr. Tran is awesome! I felt like she had all the time and patience for all my questions and really worked to figure out the prescription that worked best for me. She is wonderfully kind and explained every exam that we did. Additionally her receptionist was wonderful, she explained every charge and helped make sure that I was informed of my best options for my prescription and eye health.
