Mari Novoa is a “Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist" and is currently working under supervision of a licensed practitioner. Their CA license number is 135518 and current employer is Vanessa Diane Isetta. I provide therapy for adults in California in English or Spanish experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, workplace burnout, high stress, low self-esteem, and family communication problems. My approach to therapy combines Attachment Theory, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Strengths-Focused, and Values-Focused methods for a holistic therapy experience. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with Enlaces certification and am trained to provide therapy in English and Spanish. Throughout my professional journey, I've primarily worked in a People and Culture (Human Resources) Leadership capacity, providing coaching, conflict resolution, and overseeing well-being programs and health benefits for corporate employees. In addition, I embarked on a part-time venture into Marriage and Family Therapy in 2021, fueled by my passion for mental health and interpersonal support and relations. As a therapist, I specialize in helping adults navigate various challenges, including anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, and ADHD. My experience extends to assisting individuals with work-related issues, parenting concerns, and addressing corporate executive burnout. Drawing from my background as both an HR Leader and a therapist, I offer tailored support to meet your specific needs. I am here to help clients pursue self-understanding, find the courage to face the “why,” and provide the tools to heal. I work under the supervision of Dr. Vanessa Isetta, Psy.D, License #PSY20941

What should a new client know about working with you?

I may be the ideal therapist for you if: 1. You may be facing work-related stress due to being on a performance improvement plan, taking a medical leave of absence, feeling anxious about returning to work, or feeling burnt out. 2. Spanish is your primary language, and you're grappling with anxiety, stress, or possibly depression. I can provide support in a language that feels most comfortable to you. 3. As a Latina/Latino/Latine individual, you're seeking a therapist who can understand and empathize with your unique cultural experiences, and you want to address your mental health in a culturally sensitive manner. 4. If you're dealing with ADHD or suspect you may have it, and you're struggling with the challenges of navigating a world that may not always accommodate your needs, I'm here to offer a compassionate ear and assist you in finding effective coping strategies.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When you book, I will send you the necessary paperwork to complete. Sessions require this paperwork before commencing. In our first meeting, I'll discuss your symptoms and goals and ask questions to better understand you. Collaboration is key, so bring any questions you have. Your insights and experiences are very valuable in this process. If we determine that we're a good fit, we'll schedule weekly 50-minute telehealth sessions to address your therapy goals and discuss any experiences you've had during the week.
