I've never written a review for a medical professional before, but am compelled to do so for Nurse Keran. I may very well never go to a doctor again, if I can help it. It was my first time going to see a nurse; I needed to see someone the next day, and she was the only one in my area (Williamsburg) who offered late hours, which is a godsend for students like myself. I arrived late for an already late night appt, and she was right there waiting for me. She just said, "Why didn't you call?" which set a familial tone, and that tone was kept throughout. She stayed with me for an hour, going through countless searches through medication interactions to ensure her prescriptions were on target. Her staff was casual yet quietly authoritative. Everyone worked together in a very personal way, as if their job mattered to them. One of them went outside and bought me a bottle of water upon my request for water (I had assumed it would be tap water) and refused reimbursement, though I insisted. Her follow-up care went beyond what was required. She provided me the exact names of a few treatment centres along with a brief rundown of their profiles. She then said she'd research other options to make certain of a right fit. She had also told me of a clinic where I could get further testing; she had her staff coordinate with me to find out my schedule, and proceeded to call them and make an appointment for me, perhaps knowing it's all too easy to not follow up with these precautionary measures unless utterly convenient. In these ways, she and her staff are ideally suited for the average harried New Yorker.
