“The intake process was super easy. The forms were quick to fill out. Abby is amazing! She listens to understand, and gives thoughtful perspective. I enjoy doing “ the work” in between sessions so she will often send me a link to an article to read or other material relatable to what we are working on. ”

Getting to know Abigail Edgington

Hi, I’m Abby Edgington. I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with experience supporting clients of all ages through challenges such as anxiety, trauma, addiction, relationship concerns, and self-esteem issues. I earned my MSW from Columbia University in 2023 and have provided therapy in outpatient mental health settings, including running DBT groups and offering trauma-informed care to a wide range of clients. Before becoming a therapist, I worked extensively with refugees, asylum seekers, and individuals with disabilities, helping people overcome barriers and access support in some of the most difficult circumstances. These experiences shaped my practice to be deeply trauma-informed, resilience-focused, and culturally responsive.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I tailor my approach to each person’s unique needs, drawing from attachment-based, narrative, and trauma-informed practices as well as evidence-based tools like CBT and DBT. My goal is to provide a safe, collaborative space where you can explore your story without judgment, gain new coping strategies, and feel empowered to move toward growth and balance.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, I’ll invite you to share what brings you to therapy and what you’d like to work on. Together, we’ll set goals that feel meaningful and achievable for you. Many of my clients find that therapy helps them develop self-understanding, build confidence, and strengthen resilience in the face of life’s challenges. My role is to walk alongside you, offering support, perspective, and tools that help you create lasting change.
