Maybe you’re tired of being self-aware without actually feeling better. You know you overthink, shut down, people-please, get overwhelmed, or fall into the same relationship patterns. You may even understand where some of it comes from. But knowing why and knowing how to change it are two very different things. That’s where our work begins. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor who brings six years of experience working in the mental health field, including providing services through Comprehensive Community Services (CCS). That experience gave me the opportunity to work with people through complex mental health challenges and shaped me into a therapist who is flexible, practical, and interested in understanding the whole person rather than reducing someone to a diagnosis. I work with children, teens and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship patterns, boundaries, self-esteem, and life transitions. I’m especially drawn to the work that happens beneath the surface—understanding why certain situations hit so hard, where patterns came from, and how to respond differently instead of continuing to repeat them.

Getting to know Alexis Freund

Maybe you’re tired of being self-aware without actually feeling better. You know you overthink, shut down, people-please, get overwhelmed, or fall into the same relationship patterns. What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, conversational, direct, and engaged. I won’t spend the hour silently nodding and asking, “How does that make you feel?” I’ll ask questions, point out patterns, offer perspective, teach practical strategies, and respectfully challenge you when I see an opportunity for growth. There’s room for hard conversations here—but also humor, personality, and being a real human. You also don’t need to show up as the polished version of yourself, have a breakthrough every week, complete every exercise perfectly, or even know what you want to talk about that day. Some sessions may involve deeper work. Other weeks, we might be figuring out how you’re getting through Tuesday. Both belong in therapy. If you’re looking for a therapist who will genuinely get to know you, remember the things that matter to you, be real with you, and actively work alongside you—not simply observe from across the room—we may be a great fit.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy starts with getting to know you—not just what brought you in, but what’s important to you, what you’ve already tried, what feels stuck, and what you want to be different. From there, we’ll work together to better understand the patterns, experiences, and emotions that may be keeping you stuck while building practical ways to respond differently. I draw from trauma-informed care, DBT, CBT, strengths-based, and person-centered approaches, but I’m less interested in fitting you into a therapy model than finding what actually works for you. Depending on what you need, sessions may include deeper processing, practical coping skills, worksheets, practicing strategies together, or simply having space to work through what’s happening in your life. My goal is for you to leave therapy with something you didn’t walk in with—a new insight, a skill you can actually use, a different perspective, a connection you hadn’t made before, or a little more trust in yourself.
