Hello, I'm Dr. Allison Newman, a Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist and Doctor of Psychology. My journey in mental health began with pre- and post-doctoral training in Integrated Care and Medical Family Therapy at the University of Rochester School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. Over the years, I've developed a deep passion for helping individuals navigate the complexities of treatment-resistant depression and chronic illnesses, especially when these are accompanied by co-occurring mental health disorders. In our work together, my focus will be on empowering you to create healthy relationships with yourself and those around you. I believe in the importance of developing strong coping mechanisms, life-management strategies, and problem-solving skills. My approach is collaborative and supportive, aiming to help you build a life that feels more manageable and fulfilling. As a long-time resident of central Ohio, I find joy and peace living on a horse farm with my husband, three equine therapy partners, two dalmatians, and a wonderful array of nearby wildlife. This environment not only enriches my life but also informs my therapeutic practice, particularly in my work with equine therapy. Beyond my clinical work, I am actively involved in the mental health community. I have served on the boards of several mental health agencies and currently contribute to the board of directors for an equine adoption and rescue agency in Lexington, Kentucky. If you are looking for support in managing anxiety, navigating life transitions, dealing with PTSD, or improving family relationships, I am here to help. Together, we can work towards a healthier and more balanced life. I look forward to the possibility of working with you.
