Getting to know Alyssa Scarano

Private-Pay Therapy | Relationship-Focused | Healing Childhood & Relational Wounds At the core of my work is the belief that the relationship we build together is the foundation for healing. Many of the people who find their way to me have spent much of their lives holding themselves together — being the strong one, the responsible one, the one who adapts. On the outside, they may function well. On the inside, they often feel overwhelmed, self-critical, disconnected, or unsure why relationships feel so hard despite how much effort they put in. I understand how deeply confusing and lonely it can feel to carry emotions you don’t fully have language for — to question yourself, to wonder why things feel harder for you than they seem to for others, or to live with a quiet sense of shame or self-doubt that’s difficult to explain. Many of these patterns begin early, in relationships where safety, attunement, or emotional consistency were missing or unpredictable. My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens through relationship — through being seen, understood, and emotionally held in a way that may not have been available to you before. Please note: I am a private-pay provider and do not accept insurance. I can provide superbills upon request. Rates: • Initial session: $200 / 55 minutes • Ongoing sessions: $200–$250 / 55 minutes

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am deeply aware of the privilege it is to be invited into someone’s inner world. I approach this work with care, humility, and respect for how vulnerable it is to let another person witness your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Therapy with me is not about fixing you. It’s about sitting with you in the places that feel confusing, heavy, or painful, and helping you make sense of them with compassion and clarity. Many of the clients I work with have learned to survive by being strong, self-sufficient, or emotionally attuned to others. Over time, this can lead to self-criticism, emotional exhaustion, people-pleasing, or a sense of being disconnected from one’s own needs. In our work together, I aim to offer something many people have never fully experienced before: a relationship that feels safe, steady, and emotionally attuned. A space where you don’t have to perform, explain yourself, or carry everything alone.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I specialize in relationship-focused therapy and take an integrative, depth-oriented approach informed by attachment theory, family systems, and relational psychotherapy. I often describe my role as sitting with you in the “cave” of your emotional experience — noticing what you feel, what you’ve learned to carry, and how you’ve learned to survive. I’m there with you in it, while also holding a wider perspective that helps you begin to feel safer, more grounded, and less alone. Our work often includes: -Exploring early relational and emotional experiences -Identifying patterns of self-criticism, shame, or over-responsibility -Understanding how past relationships shape present ones -Building emotional safety, self-trust, and self-compassion Together, we work to gently shift patterns that no longer serve you, at a pace that feels supportive and sustainable. Above all, my goal is to offer you a different experience of relationship —one rooted in safety, attunement, and respect — so that over time, you can begin to experience those qualities within yourself and in your life. Please note: I am a private-pay provider and do not accept insurance. Superbills are available upon request.

My approach honors both where you’ve been and where you’re trying to go. Together, we will work to understand how past experiences and relationships have shaped you, while also focusing on what you need right now to feel more stable, supported, and grounded in your life. Alongside insight and emotional processing, my practice offers practical, individualized tools to help you make real, tangible changes — so healing doesn’t stay theoretical, but becomes something you can feel and experience in daily life. I offer private-pay therapy and am happy to provide a superbill upon request for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Please note that reimbursement is determined by your insurance provider and cannot be guaranteed.
