Getting to know Amanda Tinter-Brown

I employ a holistic approach in my therapy practice. I integrate a systematic and strengths-based methodology that focuses on the interconnectedness and intersectionality of individuals within their environments. My goal is to assist clients in understanding how their daily interactions and surroundings can influence their overall well-being. With a background in trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy and training in Multi-Systemic Therapy, I am adept at working with individuals from all age groups. I specialize in supporting individuals, couples, and families of all ages facing unique challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and issues arising from interactions with oppressive systems. My approach is centered on empowerment and advocacy. I strive to help my clients recognize their strengths and make meaningful, sustainable changes in their lives and the systems they engage with. It is important to me to build a strong therapeutic alliance with each client and meet you where you are in your therapy journey. My practice provides trauma-informed care and utilizes cultural humility to meet each individual's unique needs. I completed my Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe in the importance of creating an environment that is thoughtful, non-judgmental, and welcoming to all individuals. In my practice, creating a nurturing space where everyone feels comfortable expressing themselves is essential to developing our therapeutic relationship.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, we'll start by getting to know each other. This first meeting is really important because it sets the foundation for our work together. We'll take some time to go through an intake process where I learn a little more about you and talk about why you're seeking therapy, what you're hoping to get out of our sessions, and any specific things that led you to reach out for help. This thorough overview will help me better understand your needs and expectations so we can create a personalized approach for your mental health journey.

Amanda worked with my daughter and they had a great connection, she always took the time to check-in with me and my family to see how we were doing as well. I recommend her services to other families coping with teens.
I worked with Amanda for about 6 months. She was extremely thoughtful and worked with me and my family during an extremely tough time. She left a lasting impression and we still use the tools she taught us to this day.
I thought Amanda was perfect. This was my first visit, and there were questions that needed to be asked to get a better picture of me in order to adequately assist me. Aware of questions that were asked in the questionnaire, but she needed to ask again to get a better picture. I am very pleased. I didn't think I would find someone who would be a perfect fit, but so far, she is great. I can't wait for my next session and to see where all this goes. My session was virtual, and it all felt so peaceful. Excellent vibe.

Amanda creates a safe and thoughtful atmosphere!
As a person new to therapeutic services, I was hesitant at first to experience therapy via telehealth. Fast forward, it has been the BEST decision I have made for myself. I owe a lot of that to my therapist Amanda. Booking with her was easy and convenient. She offers late hours which works with my schedule. I easily built a rapport with her and she made me feel at ease. I will be referring Amanda to family and friends.
