As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of New York and Certified Grief Counselor through the American Academy of Grief Counseling and American Institute of Healthcare Professionals, I specialize in providing comprehensive mental healthcare, with particular focus on grief, loss, and bereavement, as well as in working with adults managing chronic illness. Prior to counseling, I earned Bachelor of Science degrees in psychology and neuroscience and a Master's degree in Social Work while serving in a variety of settings including hospice, medical social work, non-profit organizations, and clinical research.
For those who may be struggling to cope with the experience of loss or feel overwhelmed by the cognitive, affective, and behavioral manifestations of grief, it is crucial to know that grief is a normal response to painful loss and separation, and there is potential for hope and healing. In working together, we will create a compassionate care plan that facilitates emotional and spiritual well-being, while learning how to navigate the complex challenges loss presents with grace. What should a new client know about working with you?
Although open to all individuals, my ideal focus in therapy is working with adult clients experiencing trauma related to grief, loss, and bereavement. Broadly, this may encompass grief related to the loss of a loved one, coping with a recent diagnosis, life-limiting illness, or other major life event. My approach uses interfaith spirituality and counseling, which can help those in traumatic experiences, but also help those going through existential and spiritual challenges.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I will work with you to create a sacred space for healing to occur. While I primarily utilize ACT, grief-informed, and mindfulness-based techniques, sessions are tailored to incorporate additional therapeutic modalities that are evidence-based while meeting your goals and preferences. I approach therapy with an understanding of the interconnectivity of the mind and spirituality. Healing yourself spiritually also aids in healing your mind, leading to the healing effects of finding inner peace amidst trauma and grief.
