If we're unable to contact you, your appointment may be rescheduled or cancelled.* Amelia Kidd (she/her) is a queer, licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) based in New York City. As a therapist, Amelia believes that our relationships, particularly those in our early childhood, form the basis for how we feel about ourselves, others, and the world around us. Healing happens when we form safe and supportive relationships, and the therapeutic relationship can be a powerful force for positive change. In therapy, clients can expect to be received with compassion and empathy, and without judgement. To help clients reach their goals, Amelia uses an eclectic approach, drawing from harm reduction, relational, and psychodynamic therapies as well as evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Most recently, Amelia trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)—a treatment for PTSD and other trauma related challenges--and is currently pursuing certification. Amelia has experience and interest in working with clients seeking support around their gender and sexuality, anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, eating disorders, substance use, and relationship challenges. Amelia started working at Housing Works through NYC's Mental Health Service Corps in 2017, and began as a full time Housing Works therapist in 2019. Since that time, Amelia has also served as a Program Director for outpatient substance use services and a Clinical Supervisor for outpatient mental health. Amelia is currently the Assistant Director for the outpatient mental health program at the Westside Health Center, where she sees individual clients, runs groups, and supervises the Westside team of therapists.
