“The session was really helpful. Instead of just talking in circles, I was given tools I can use right away to manage stress and organize my thoughts. The questions she asked pushed me to think differently, and I left with some homework to work on before my next session. It feels like I’m actually moving forward, not just venting.”

Getting to know Aneesha Allen

I work with adults who feel emotionally exhausted, overwhelmed, or impacted by childhood and relational trauma that continues to shape their relationships, self-worth, and sense of safety. Many of my clients are high-functioning on the outside but internally struggle with anxiety, burnout, negative thought patterns, and a harsh inner critic that’s difficult to quiet. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, burnout, and relationship patterns, including work with LGBTQ+ clients and non-monogamous dynamics. My approach is trauma-informed, affirming, and grounded in helping clients understand how past experiences influence current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) alongside deeper insight-oriented work, I help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, reduce self-criticism, and develop more balanced, supportive ways of relating to themselves. We also focus on emotional regulation and nervous system awareness so that change feels sustainable—not just intellectual. Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and focused on long-term growth. We go beyond surface-level coping to understand the patterns keeping you stuck and build meaningful, lasting change in how you think, feel, and show up in your life and relationships. I offer virtual therapy sessions Monday through Thursday, with afternoon and evening availability, and I am currently accepting new weekly clients.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is a collaborative and intentional process focused on creating emotional safety while doing meaningful, deeper work. I offer a warm, attuned, and trauma-informed space where you can explore the patterns, experiences, and internal dynamics that shape how you think, feel, and relate to others. Many of the clients I work with are high-functioning and self-aware, yet feel emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or stuck in cycles they can’t seem to break. Often, this includes navigating the impact of childhood or relational trauma, a persistent inner critic, and negative thought patterns that affect self-worth, relationships, and daily functioning. My approach goes beyond symptom management. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) alongside insight-oriented and relational work, we identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns while also understanding where those patterns come from. We focus on building emotional awareness, strengthening nervous system regulation, and helping you develop a more balanced and supportive relationship with yourself. Clients often come to me looking for a space that feels both supportive and grounded. I aim to create an environment that is thoughtful, affirming, and steady—especially for adults navigating trauma, burnout, and complex relationship dynamics, including LGBTQ+ and non-monogamous relationships. Therapy is paced with care and intention, allowing for long-term, sustainable change rather than quick fixes.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My work begins with a thoughtful intake and assessment phase, where we explore what’s bringing you to therapy, your personal and relational history, and the patterns you’re starting to notice. Early sessions focus on building a strong foundation—creating emotional safety, clarifying goals, and identifying how past experiences, trauma, and current stressors may be influencing your thoughts, emotions, and relationships. As we continue, therapy becomes both exploratory and practical. We work on identifying patterns in your thinking—such as negative thought cycles or a harsh inner critic—while also understanding where those patterns come from. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) alongside insight-oriented work, we begin to challenge unhelpful beliefs, shift emotional responses, and develop more supportive ways of relating to yourself. Sessions are collaborative and paced intentionally. Some sessions may focus more on processing emotions or past experiences, while others may include building concrete skills like emotional regulation, boundary-setting, and navigating relationship dynamics. We also incorporate trauma-informed tools to support nervous system regulation, so change feels manageable and sustainable. Over time, therapy becomes a space not just for insight, but for real change. We regularly check in on your goals, track progress, and adjust our work as needed. The goal is to help you build self-trust, reduce the intensity of negative patterns, and create more stable, secure ways of thinking, feeling, and relating—so that what you gain in therapy carries into your everyday life.

Our sessions helped us understand our emotional cycles, not just manage conflict. We addressed a range of issues, from assumptions and communication breakdowns to emotional safety, accountability, and family dynamics. The tools that she provided were customized to our real-life patterns, and it wasn't like other therapists. We didn’t always agree, but therapy gave us structure, language, and space to show up better for each other. Highly recommend if you’re serious about growth.
Therapy with Aneesha has honestly been such a grounding experience for me. From the very first session, I felt like I could be real without worrying about being judged. She listens in a way that makes you feel safe, but she also challenges you in the best way—helping me see things I didn’t even realize I needed to work through. I’ve been learning how to trust myself more, set better boundaries, and actually process my emotions instead of just pushing them aside. Each session feels like a step forward. I really appreciate the space she holds, and I always leave feeling clearer and more like myself.
Aneesha has been our couple’s therapist for about a year now. I highly recommend her as a therapist. She’s honest, engaging, and gives very helpful insights and emotional tools to practice at home. She’s great.
Working with Aneesha has honestly been such a big help. She’s helped me understand why I react the way I do and where some of that comes from. I’ve been able to set boundaries without feeling bad about it, and she’s given me tools I actually use. I feel more like myself again, and more in control of how I show up. Therapy feels real with her, not just talking in circles.
Nothing better than having someone that is not only able to accommodate to your needs, but she is also super attentive and responsive. Couldn’t be more grateful.

I highly recommend Ms. Allen! It can be hard to find someone who sits and actually actively listens to your needs. Ms. Allen did just that! I have a hard time getting my thoughts together and she helped me clarify and organize them so that I may be able to express my needs! 10/10!
She was very attentive and professional. Was able to give me great advice for strictly my problems and concerns as well as great homework exercises for my mental health
She was punctual and made me feel at ease. I doubted it would work due to our age difference, but she quickly proved me wrong. Our relationship has grown so much under her guidance.
I was very skeptical when first meeting with Ms Allen, but she made me feel at ease. Ms Allen was easy to talk to and had me opening up in ways I wasn't able to before.
I like her professionalism. I feel more confident. And she made me feel comfortable talking to her. Felt like I've known her forever.
