Getting to know Anna Scholcz
Are you feeling overhelmed. Maybe you've been carrying a low hum of anxiety that never quite turns off, or you've noticed the same painful pattern showing up in relationship after relationship. Maybe a recent loss, a career change, or a shift in who you are has left you feeling unstable, like you're not quite sure how to move forward. If any of that sounds familiar, I want you to know: you don't have to figure it out alone, and you don't have to arrive already knowing what's wrong.
What should a new client know about working with you?
In our work together, that might look like learning to notice a wave of anxiety before it takes over, and having a concrete way to ride it out instead of getting swept up in it. It might mean naming an old pattern in the moment it's happening, rather than only recognizing it in hindsight. And it might mean slowing down enough to actually feel and process something difficult, instead of just managing around it. I draw on DBT, CBT, and trauma-informed approaches, but in the room that translates into practical skills you can use between sessions, alongside space to reflect on what's underneath.
I also bring a particular attunement to multicultural and immigrant experiences, shaped in part by my own background growing up between the UK and Hungary — I understand what it's like to hold more than one cultural identity at once, and I don't assume a single frame fits everyone.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
In our first few sessions, expect us to spend time simply building trust and getting a clear picture of what's brought you in — there's no fixed script to bring with you. From there, the work takes shape around what actually matters to you, and I'll check in regularly on whether it's landing.
My name is Anna Scholcz, and I'm a Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) practicing under supervision in New York, working with adults ages 14 and up. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a real, human process rather than a clinical one, and there's nothing quite like being part of the moment things start to click for someone. If this resonates, I'd be glad to hear from you. Book an appointment today.
