I’ve really appreciated working with August. He create a space that feels thoughtful and grounded, and I’ve felt genuinely supported in exploring difficult topics. I value his approach and the way he helped me slow down and think through things more clearly.
August is a pleasure to work with. As a fellow therapist, he gives astute, compassionate, and insightful feedback. I am grateful to work with him.
August is kind and welcoming with a gentle demeanor and creates a space where it is clear he cares and wants to be present and understanding of a client's experiences. I recommend August if you are looking for a gentle, articulate, and present therapist.
In our first session, he used some language I personally found pretty offensive & unprofessional. He also asked some extremely pointedly personal questions in our first session which didn't entirely seem relevant to our discussion. Not a kind of tone or demeanor I found helpful.

3 years ago my mother and soulmate passed away and I was lost in total grief and despair. I felt my life had no meaning and I was despondent and seriously depressed and in a very dark place. It was then that August Costa came into my life. Our remote therapy sessions began and lasted a full 6 months. I was skeptic at first, since therapy had never worked for me before. But with his calm, soothing, yet professional demeanor, he slowly helped guide me through the cause of my pain and suffering. He listened to me cry, never judging my tears or my loss. My confidence in him, and hence in mysef, began to grow, (slowly at first) like a fragile damagd flower. Through August's nurturing and holistic words, I began to see a light at the end of the dark tunnel I was "stuck" in. Thanks to his positive, insightful way, he showed me how to bloom again. He never once faltered or let me down and was available 24/7. My gratitude is eternal and we are still in touch til this day. Gracias sweet August!
After losing a dear friend, I was overwhelmed with grief and fortunate to find August, whose empathy and insight were truly healing. From the start, he created a safe, compassionate space where I could fully express my emotions without judgment. His understanding of grief felt deeply personal and genuine, offering reflections that helped me process pain without rushing through it. What stood out was his ability to listen deeply and guide me with clarity, warmth, and respect. With his support, I began to move forward—not by forgetting, but by integrating my loss. I’m truly grateful.
My therapist, August, has truly made a difference in my life. His empathy and understanding create a safe space where I feel completely heard and supported. Each session leaves me feeling lighter, more focused, and encouraged to keep growing. I’m so grateful for the care and insight they bring to our work together.
As a colleague, I’ve seen firsthand how skilled and compassionate August Costa is. He works with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and PTSD, using multiple modalities tailored to each individual. He’s highly experienced, effective with diverse populations, and consistently creates a warm, nonjudgmental, and supportive environment. His approach is both encouraging and empowering. Clients find him approachable, respectful, and deeply empathetic. His insight and knowledge make him a truly exceptional therapist. I would highly recommend August to anyone seeking meaningful, professional, and compassionate care.
August is one of the most genuine and caring people I know—he’s always been supportive, approachable, and patient when I need it, whether I’m dealing with stress, grief, or big life changes. He’s helped me work through tough moments and is willing to listen on my time, without judgment. August has experience supporting people through trauma, depression, and even PTSD, and I’ve seen firsthand how empowering and calming he is with everyone, including LGBTQ friends and adults going through rough patches. He’s truly knowledgeable, uses multiple therapy modalities, and creates a space where you feel respected and understood. Therapy is his calling, and anyone would be lucky to have him on their side.
I know Mr. Costa to be a caring and supportive counselor. He compassionately helped a dear friend who was grieving. Couldn’t think of anyone better to turn to in a crises situation. So calm, soothing, insightful & compassionate. Along with an understanding of the human condition, he truly cares & come from a very supportive & loving place.
August Costa made himself available to talk with my adult child who was suffering a debilitating episode of anxiety. In that conversation, he was incredibly calming and confident as he helped them work through that space such that they were able to engage in a conversation about what was happening with them. Mr. Costa provided guidance for both my child and myself providing us with exercises and practices that have been incredibly helpful for me as a concerned parent and for my child who since, has begun to develop an understanding and confidence in how they can help themselves cope during similar events. Over the few years since his first conversation with my child, Mr. Costa has helped me remain resilient as my child gains clarity and direction toward their personal life plans. I know he continues to encourage my child and am very grateful that they feel empowered to seek his assistance.
I’ve known August personally for decades and one thing that has always stood out is his kindness and deep empathy. He has such a gentle way of listening and supporting people, and it’s clear how much he cares about the well-being of those he works with. His commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community is inspiring, and he creates a safe, affirming space for people to be themselves. I know from his character and the way he shows up for others that he brings compassion, understanding, and genuine care into his practice.
I’ve been working with August (he/him) for many years, and he has been a steady, compassionate presence through different stages of my life. He’s supported me in navigating anxiety, depression, and major transitions with patience, kindness, and genuine care. What makes August unique is not only his therapeutic skill but also the wealth of professional and lived experience he brings from before becoming a therapist, which gives him rare insight and depth. He creates a safe, welcoming space, especially for the LGBTQIA+ community, and his approach is calming, evidence-based, and effective. I always leave sessions feeling supported and more resilient. August is a knowledgeable, highly experienced therapist who deeply cares about his clients.
I felt so comfortable with Gus. He really helped me after my mother passed away and I was completely despondent. I did not know how I was going to go on. He is so empathetic and patient. And he really understands the special challenges the LTGBQ community face. I am someone who always thought I would not like therapy, but it really changed my entire outlook because he is someone who is also knowledgable and well-read and really gets it. Like he understood and empathized with my interest in Buddhism and spirituality.
