What should a new client know about working with you?

As a counselor, my goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. I understand that starting therapy can feel intimidating, and I work at a pace that feels right for you. When we begin working together, I take time to get to know you and your experiences, your strengths, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I use a person-centered approach, which means you are the expert on your own life, and we will work collaboratively to identify your goals. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques to help you build practical skills for managing challenges like anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship concerns. My approach is flexible and tailored to your unique needs. With 18 years of experience working with a wide range of individuals, I aim to meet you where you are and support you in making meaningful, lasting changes. Whether you're navigating a difficult time or working toward personal growth, I’m here to help you along the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to working with clients is collaborative, flexible, and tailored to your individual needs. In our first few sessions, I focus on getting to know you—your background, current concerns, strengths, and what you hope to gain from therapy. This also gives us time to build trust and create a space where you feel comfortable sharing openly. Together, we will identify goals that feel meaningful and realistic for you. From there, our work will depend on your needs and preferences. I typically start with a person-centered approach, allowing you to guide the conversation while I provide support and insight. As we move forward, I may incorporate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you develop practical skills for managing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Throughout the process, I check in regularly to make sure therapy is meeting your needs and adjust our approach as needed. I also focus on helping you build tools and strategies you can use outside of sessions, so you can continue making progress in your everyday life.
