Psychotherapist
4200 18th St, Ste 104, San Francisco, CA
I am a National Board-Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC), Board Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and Board-Certified TeleMental Health Practitioner (BC-TMH). I earned my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the California School of Professional Psychology. I work with people seeking personal insight, relief from anxiety or depression, and a variety of mental health concerns. I also work with couples and other relationships. I have many years of experience with the LGBTQ+ community and often present on topics of cultural humility, gender, and related issues. My therapy style is integrative, collaborating with each client to create a treatment plan tailored to their specific needs. Generally, I combine a strong client-centered/person-centered (Rogerian) orientation with psychodynamic work. I have experience with CBT and ACT techniques and approach substance use issues from a harm-reduction perspective. I also incorporate elements of narrative, feminist, and interpersonal therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Many of us reach out when we feel the need for support, or help working through challenging times. Sometimes we face challenges we think are too difficult to manage alone. I believe in taking a strength-based, client-centered approach to psychotherapy, working with you to help you grow toward your best self. The familiar ways you have of dealing with life's complications may not be working; together we can work to identify new positive means of change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

It is important to me that everyone has access to mental health services, and I have a history of many years working at a community mental health clinic serving traditionally under-resourced populations. I reserve a limited number of low-fee appointments, and work with other agencies and services to refer clients who may not be able to afford private therapy. I strongly believe that each of us is trying — hard — to grow into our best self. Often, we just don't have the tools or the perspective to see what is getting in our way. I see my work as providing a space to look at what obstacles are keeping you from the life you want to live, and accompany you along the path to get there.
