During my undergraduate and graduate studies, I provided outpatient counseling to children, adolescents, and their families, which further fueled my passion for mental health. I have also worked in an inpatient psychiatric unit, served as a clinical site director, and conducted scientific research on family caregiver stress and coping styles during my doctoral program, which I later published. My educational background includes an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree, a Bachelor of Science degree in College and Community Counseling, a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Psychology & Philosophy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certified by the Commonwealth of Virginia Health Board. In my practice, I prioritize creating a comfortable and non-judgmental environment for my clients. I utilize a client-centered therapy approach, empowering you to take an active role in your therapy. For those dealing with depression and anxiety, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help identify and change negative thought patterns. For clients who have experienced severe trauma, I use trauma-informed therapy to provide support and healing. My specialties include trauma, veterans, anxiety, depression, grief counseling, codependency, adolescent counseling (ages 13 and up), domestic violence, health disabilities, life management counseling, mood disorders, parenting issues/stressors, post-traumatic stress disorder, and stress management. I am currently available for video sessions only, and I am not accepting marriage or couples counseling at this time.
