Psychotherapist

The act of putting thoughts and emotions into words can have surprising and powerful results. There is a freedom in saying out loud in a unique and confidential environment what is often only said to oneself quietly and without self-awareness. When we allow ourselves to express what we have withheld, we begin to see our world from new perspectives, develop new ways of being in the world, and start to make new choices. Therapy can be painful, slow, and arduous; this is part of why we undertake the process with an experienced therapist, someone to be in our lives for exactly and only this purpose. I hold a Master's in Psychoanalysis from the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies, which informs my approach and commitment to guiding clients through this transformative journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

This is how I understand my work. I offer the space to feel and say anything. I work with individuals that have diverse issues, struggles, and lives. AS a licensed psychoanalyst and graduate of the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies, I work with each patient on the basis of their individual needs as the relationship develops. Through my years of practice I’ve worked with anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts/behavior, dependency issues and existential challenges.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The fee for ongoing sessions will be negotiated in our initial session. I offer a sliding scale fee range in the appropriate situations. In our initial session I will ask you to describe your reason for seeking treatment and some general biographic information. We will also explore together if we are a good fit to work together. After the first session every therapeutic relationship is different, depending on what the patient and I develop together. We attempt to put everything into words, but the path this exploration takes is surprising and different for everyone.
