"Hello, I'm Candace. In the busyness of life, it can be a struggle to make time for your mental health. With to-do lists, unexpected events, and daily obligations, navigating the challenges of life may feel difficult. As a mental health provider, I seek to support clients with these challenges by providing them with a safe environment to self-reflect, learn coping strategies, find their voice, and feel empowered. Together, we identify your specific needs and goals, and develop a plan for you to thrive in life. About me: In 2009, I graduated from Florida State University with a Master's Degree in Art Therapy. Now, I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) and a registered art therapist (ATR) with 13 years of experience. I primarily work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment, academic distress, low self-esteem, stress, discrimination, and relationship concerns. I focus on adults, utilizing an eclectic approach based on person-centered, strengths-based, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, art therapy, and developmental theories and approaches. I am also employed as a mental health counselor at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, where I support college students with their mental health concerns. I specialize in working with individuals dealing with ADHD, anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, grief and bereavement, intimate and romantic relationships, life transitions, multicultural and diversity issues, OCD, phobias, PTSD, sleep disorders, stress, suicidal ideation and self-harming behaviors, and trauma. My approach is to create a collaborative and supportive environment where you feel heard and understood. I believe in the power of art therapy as a unique and effective way to explore emotions and experiences.

There have been quite a few technical issues during my appointments but otherwise SonderMind did a great job of matching me with the right counselor/therapist!
