What should a new client know about working with you?

Each of us is a unique constellation of experiences, values, identities and needs and my work aims to embrace and empower that. To thrive we need all parts of ourselves to be affirmed and nurtured. Each individual is the expert in themself; people’s insight into their identities and values guides our work together. We have each fought to gain wisdom about ourselves and skills to care for ourselves; I hope to empower people to apply that wisdom and grow those skills so they can live the life they want to live. I have dedicated my career to providing support for trans and queer adults, adolescents, and kids. Many of my clients have a history of trauma. Many of my adult clients are active in kink and ethically non-monogamous communities.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our relationship is the most powerful site of healing work. I enthusiastically embrace my clients as whole, dimensional people and strive to hold space for all parts of them to be authentically present. I strive to meet clients in authenticity and am constantly working to be aware of how my own privileged and marginalized identities might show up. My clients would describe me as warm, authentic, engaged, celebratory and empathetic. I believe healing work holds space for both the very real pain and suffering you face and celebrates the joy of living into yourself and embracing your identities. There is nothing more powerful and joyful than learning about yourself and acting on behalf of that knowledge. My clients are experts in their own lives and are whole people looking to grow further into themselves. I draw from multiple treatment modalities (especially EMDR, DBT, mindfulness) based on the needs of the people I work with to support and nurture the work we are setting out to do as a team. I love working with folx at all stages of identity development. It is such a joy to witness someone getting to know themselves better and honor that new insight. Many of us have survived trauma and I am honored to hold space for people to process and make meaning of those experiences. There are many skills we need to regulate our emotions and listen to the messages they are sending us and I joyfully help people learn and develop those skills. We are always growing and changing and I provide support as people move through all varieties of life transitions.
