What should a new client know about working with you?

I have an eclectic approach since to me there is no one size fits all for anyone. You lead the way, and I will aim to help you get to where you want to be! We will discuss goals for our sessions and work to achieve them, at a pace that is comfortable for you. I hope at a minimum for my clients to feel at least a little better in general than they did before the session. Ideally by making sessions a regular part of their lifestyles, they can see hope for attainable change for their situation.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I take an eclectic approach to counseling, tailoring treatment to your unique needs and concerns. My approach integrates techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Humanistic therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, and other methods to provide the most effective care for you as an individual. CBT-I helps you understand how your thoughts and actions can affect your sleep. CBT-I teaches techniques to reduce anxiety about sleep, create better sleep habits, and develop a healthier relationship with sleep. It's a structured, short-term therapy that’s proven to be effective for treating insomnia. CBT helps you recognize when you're having negative thoughts and teaches you how to challenge and replace them with more realistic or positive ones. It’s a practical and goal-oriented approach, where you work with a therapist to learn new ways of thinking and behaving that improve your mood and mental well-being. It’s often used to treat things like anxiety, depression, and stress. Eclectic therapy is like a customized treatment plan where the therapist uses whatever tools or methods will help you the most, rather than following just one specific type of therapy. The goal is to tailor the treatment to the person rather than trying to fit them into a single therapy style. Humanistic therapy is about helping people become the best version of themselves by building a positive relationship with their therapist, feeling understood and accepted, and gaining confidence in their ability to make positive life choices. It focuses on self-love, empathy, and creating meaningful connections with others. Psychodynamic therapy is about uncovering why you feel or act the way you do by looking at things that happened in the past, even if you don’t consciously remember them. The goal is to help you gain insight into your inner world to lead a healthier life.
